I'm Looking to build a Sandy Bridge i5 2500k System for a budget of around £650. I have got a build that I have put together for around £640 that seems like a good mid-ranged build, I would just like to know if you guys would recommend different components to get the "Bang for my buck" ^_^ Build: (All Links go to Scan.co.uk or ebuyer.com I think ) http://bit.ly/qqvDlR - Coolermaster CM690 II Lite + 650W Coolermaster GX PSU http://bit.ly/mTazZu - Intel i5 2500K http://bit.ly/pAAcTG - Be Quiet! Dark Rock Advanced CPU Cooler http://bit.ly/psoD46 - MSI P67A-GD53 MOBO http://bit.ly/n1EUVo - G-Skill RipjawsX 8GB (2x4GB) 1600Mhz http://bit.ly/qv9NuV - XFX HD 6870 1GB http://bit.ly/ps3794 - Seagete 500Gb 3.5" 6GB/s http://bit.ly/qlnROC - DVD Drive http://bit.ly/r7NkIZ - Wireless Network Card So if you think I can get a bang for my buck on other components, reply to help me out ^_^ I think that case + PSU offer is a definite must as it is a branded PSU and a large good looking case and from what I have heard is quiet and good airflow. Thanks Jobama P.S I'm building around Early December but I just want to get a good solid build together in plenty of time
Looks pretty decent, the case and power supply deal looks good. Bear in mind that 3 months is a lifetime in computer component hardware, you should double check prices then (my expectations: 1. Sandy Bridge vs Bulldozer price war, 2. HD 6000 to be surpassed by HD 7000, hopefully will be able to get better card for same money or discounted HD 6000 series)
Seem ok build also remember if you get 20 useful post in by then you can get free shipping from scan as well http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=186923
What resolution is your monitor? that will decide how beefy your GPU needs to be. Looks a pretty balanced setup though, id upgrade the HDD to a samsung or WD, in at least 1TB (the sweet spot in price is between 1 and 2TB these days, always moving upwards). Barely cost any more and you wont have to worry about storage ever again unless you deal with HD video on a regular basis.
That's a solid build, nicely done to keep that within budget. Like Bungletron said though - revisit the build in December, there will be new components out that may be better value.
Well Thanks for the feedback! I will look at the market and review prices and see what else is out there in December! Thanks for the help and I have been working and researching for a few months for this build to get a decent solid system for £650 or less!
