Dead simple. I have an i7 system with triple channel DDR3 memory. Can I just bang this in a SandyBridge mobo? I realise that SB is dual channel, but benchies seem to indicate that it really doesn't make a difference. It seems silly to sell my 6GB and then buy 4 or 8GB of memory.

Ya you will be fine, only thing is that you will have 2gb left over. Or maybe you can find a single stick the same? (Difficult though)
How much do you think you can get for it second hand?
I ask this because 8gb is 88 pounds on Scan and it will save alot of hassle.

I would have thought £55 tops for my old RAM, so I'd be paying £33 for another 2GB ><

Or buy a 4GB kit for 35 pounds. Although 4GB is getting a little low.

Think it makes sense to stick onto my old RAM :)

Well, if I hold onto my old RAM, buy the MSI board that works out at £112, go for the 2500K, its really not going to cost me much :D

You can always just have one stick running in single channel mode, or buy another 2GB module- as long as it can run at the same frequency/timings/voltage as the rest it doesn't matter if it's not identical to the others.
