thanks man, she's pretty excited about it too, she just used watercolor paints, the cheap kind, on some pretty heavy water color paper (the same kind i used to test the lights so it should be fine), and the brush was just a pretty cheap, and way too small one, really nothing fancy

AWESOME! The painting is sweetness, and looks perfect framed by the wood. Can't wait to see it lit up. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Holy good god!!!!!! That looks the sex! One thing though. I don't like the CCFL's. Not sure why, but the "bars" of light you can see by the vertical supports looks to modern to me. It seems to almost cheapen the traditional style you've taken with the rest of the outside. Other than that minor gripe, this thing is amazing. Out of curiosity, does the place you get your tools from have a website? I absolutely love the quality of the work you have done, and would like to see about getting a small set of tools like this.

Brilliant case. I just read the thread from beginning to end. Beautiful craftsmanship.

I have to agree with kiljoi on the comment about the ccfls. The light source needs to be more diffuse. Perhaps as was suggested earlier why not use EL sheeting OR see if you can get your hands on a dead LCD monitor. They have a sheet in them which takes a ccfl on the edge and gives it a really uniform glow. Then there is the home made diffuse plexi option that has been bandied about.

well, this case is still almost done, seems like its been almost done for about 6 months though but now that i've gotten opinions on the outside (still trying to figure out exactly what to do with the lighting) i'd like to see what u guys think of the inside.

here are some exploded shots of what the case looks like with the top off and the panels down:

i'll probly try the frosted plex method to try and diffuse the light

here are more pics with various lighting

and with the doors off, u can see exactly how little there is in there

most of the wiring is run underneath the floor, i'd show that but i have to tip my case over and its quite a mess at the moment

    thats all for now

i have to hand it to you, man. it's not easy to mix materials correctly, but your stained wood looks really nice with that plexi, not to mention the painting in the window. definately one of the most elegant cases i've seen.

    props.

    Whoa!!!
I haven't checked back here for quite a while, and even though I really liked what I saw when suggesting the name "Sangaku" to you, I couldn't imagine in my wildest dreams that it would turn out THIS good...

The photo of the case with that beautiful bamboo paper installed is breathtaking, fantastic!
