If the whole thing turns out as completely *expletive* awesome as the work you've done so far, this will be one of the most beautiful cases I've ever seen. I really love your details like the fan grilles and the ebony wedges.

finally an update, sorry, the shop wasn't open on sunday, anywho, i've been doing some painting of the fan blades and the cover of my dvd burner:

a bunch of coats of primer first:
then some nice gloss black paint:

alright, i also got my heatsink....
    [IMG] so pretty, anyways
i figured it was finally time to start attaching things to the front acrylic, and the fan came first. this wasn't too hard, just 4 holes and 4 brass bolts (that will be painted black) that go from the front plate, through the fan, and connect to the back fan grill. what's not pictured in any of the pics here are the panty hose that will act as my fan filter, and will clean up the look of the fan from the back.

more finished pics of that later, the fan casing will be anadized black, so it will be quite pretty with all the other blackness, especially contrasting against the wood.

the next step was cutting the hole in the front plate for the dvd drive to come out. there were a few ways i could have done this, ie. router, scroll saw, by hand, but i decided in the end to use the metal mill that my school has.

i did a couple of test cuts on the test piece to find the correct speed:

after that seemed fairly successful, i went on to cutting the real peice:

and it turned out pretty nicely:
and here are the rest of the pics of what is done on the actual case so far, i can't wait to take the paper off of the front, it should make things look a lot better:
sorry for the blurryness of some of these

oh, and a sneak peak of whats hopefully to come unless i screw up or i think its ugly, the texture for the soon to be anadize front doors (with a hole in them of course for the fan)

this is a nice 3/16 inch slab of aluminum that i'll be banging on for a few days, definately fun, anyways that's it for now.

Ah, that's a great idea. Simple too. :thumb:

(I'm not crazy about coming out of a store with just pair of panty hose though lol)

Can't wait to see how the textured metal comes out. Those fans are gonna look great when you get em anodized black.

Sweet. Finish this with pride and you might eventually have a cooler case than Zap is doing now.

This case is going to be amazing. By far the best wood-using case in existance, unless there's a sliver caught somewhere in ORAC^3.

Personally, I wouldn't put a door on the system. However, it's your case, and your choice. Either way, it's going to look really good in the end.

i've been having some second thoughts on the front doors too, one reason is they're gonna take forever, so i might just save those for later, since i can do them after everything else is done. oh, the shoji doors are probably the next thing to be done.

Without a doubt! Much classier, I really like what you are doing with this case.
