Got the card from Newegg about two weeks ago. Installed it and then tried it out, if i went to graphic heavy websites (newegg) the whole thing would crash. So after messing with voltage settings and everything and still getting the same results i RMA'd it back to NEWEGG.

Got the replacement card installed yesterday and was working good, but now its just randomly locking up. Does anyone have any ideas of whats wrong and/or what i can do to fix it?

The card that i have in my SIG works perfectly so i can assume that the AGP port is fine.

The most common issues that cause problems are:

    1. Crappy PSU. What power supply do you have? Its possible your radeon isn’t getting enough or dirty juice.

    2. Heat. Is the card getting hot? An overheating card can cause crashes.

The PSU is standard, i cant remember the brand right now off the top of my head.

Heat - i didnt check it this morning before i left but the card has one hell of a substantial heat sink on it. The only other thing i can think of would be to toss some 80 mm fans on the side panel blowing directly on the card

Ok, now i think i got it figured out.

My PSU is a powmax 350 watt supply, its a couple of years old.

I took the card out and tossed it in my gf's computer and its working fine. Still need to do some more tests but everything im seeing is telling me its working fine.

the weird thing is that i put my 9600 pro back in and it works fine, i was playing BF: Vietnam last night for 30 minutes straight with no problems. I think that the PSU isnt pushing enough juice to the card.

    Any input guys?

I had a powermax 400w in my sig system up until a few months ago. It was total junk and I doubt it could handle more than 300w. Do your self a favor and get a REAL power supply. I love the Global Win Sapphire that I replaced it with.

Ok, did the first part of my test of the PSU.

Took the card and put it into my gf's computer. Nothing special, an ECS board with a 1700XP. Left teh computer up and running for an hour no problems. Then i loaded BF: Vietnam and played it for a half hour. No problems.

The case is an Aspire Turbo X-Dreamer w/ 350w PSU.

The next thing im doing is taking the PSU out of her computer and hooking it up to mine. If the card works fine with that PSU hooked up then its off to the store to get a new PSU
