Looks as if I may have to ring them up as well...

I left work last night, and wandered back to the car - only to find that the mounting bracket for the TT500 had parted way with the suction cup. The bracker was on the dash, dangling by the power lead, and the suction cup was still stuck to the windscreen! :miffed:

Have looked online, and apparently it's a bit of an issue at the moment, as it looks as if TomTom has had a dodgey batch of mounts. I've submitted a service request as per their instructions on the TT website, and will wait for their reply.

In the mean time, I may just splash for a brodit mounting bracket for it.

GOO I'd go for the brodit mount and forget the standard tomtom effort.

A world of warning for people DON'T be tempted by the Blaupunkt Travel pilot E1, I just got my new car and it came fitted with one, needless to say I've gone back to using using my Ipaq and TTNav.

GOO, if you go to the place where you bought the TomTom they should have replacement brackets. Halfords does.

Really? The ape looking after the ICE department in the local Halfords screwed up his face in thought, and after a minute or so of intense mentalism said "We don't do them, ring TomTom" and went back to playing with the Sony Xplods.

Weird. Part of my job involves looking after Halfords POS systems, so I'm in them quite a lot. One of the ones round here I was chatting to the guy, mentioned I had a TomTom and he said that they'd had a load of brackets in to replace the faulty ones, and just gave me one.... I didn't even buy it from there!

Recieved my replacement mount direct from TomTom yesterday. Much better unit, IMHO - It's shorter than the old (new style) one that broke, which allows it to fit in a greater variety of place on the dash. And as it's shorter, there's less vibration as well, so the screen isn't wobbling all over the place.

Purely because, small systems like that are absoloutely village. I've tried a few like that in mates cars, and they are bollocks, not one can find my house, which is in the sticks admittadley, but I can give directions fine, those things can't.
