I have to agree with this I prefer to help people without everyone knowing I did it, It's enough to know I did some good. I believe people should be allowed to keep their dignity. But fairplay to your generosity I just think there's a better way.
It's supremely generous, and remember that it's also entirely optional. I think the lack of entries on a forum with hundreds of daily users sort of underlines Carrie's point, as most of the verbose entries are from the US. I could make up a sob story to rival most of the ones in this thread, and my actual sob story might well have made it into the final poll. I just chose not to - plus I'm also lucky enough to have a capable rig and it would be very deceitful to pretend otherwise. But hey, that little insight into their woes (real otherwise) might well win them a rig. If it provides genuine happiness to the winner then I'm happy for everyone. I think it's best not to read too much in to it, TGS wants to provide a free computer for someone who can't provide their own, and this is his way of choosing to do so.
I had to laugh at that. When I first read it I read it as " plus I'm also lucky enough to have a capable wig "
I may be going grey, but I still have my original hairline. For now @p2h, I think you have "Didn't Read the OP Syndrome" too
Agreed Tel, there's no better warmer feeling than when helping others.... except pissing yourself maybe.
Personally I am really going through a tough time in life and that thread gave me a constructive place to vent. It may not have been appropriate but it did kind of help me get things off of my chest and it made me feel a bit better after words. I apologize if anyone thinks this in appropriate but it was what I needed at the time and I sent a PM to TGS thanking him for creating the thread at the time. I am not begging or trying to be the best sob story but that at that particular time and place was a good place to vent. I hope no one feels insulted or sorry for me, life has it's up's and downs for everyone, and some times you just need to vent now not later before you explode.
I agree, sometimes we do need a way to outlet our frustration, pain, etc. and this was a good way to do it. Life does have it's ups n downs, let's hope that things begin looking up again soon for those of us in the current "down" spot. Btw, I hope things really take a much-needed turn for the ultimate better for you soon, I've seen way too many vets get screwed over by our govt. because they were led to believe they were going to be taken care of and kept of use, but when they got hurt or something they were thrown out like trash. There are even a lot of vets who've been targeted by the VA, etc. to have medical service denied, and even some who've been killed off with them just being written off as "died of old age". Really makes me sick how you guys have been, and keep getting, shafted for doing what you were led to believe was something honorable. I'll pray for you bro.
I appreciate your support and thank you for your prayers. I too have seen many vets get screwed over by the govt and it sickens me to see they way vets are treated. I hope we get a president that supports vets and tries to make things better. I hope things get better for you and yours and you will be in my thoughts and prayers too.
LOL I'm sure if you ask one of the mods they can but we were just having a friendly conversation is all.
