I was just passing some time on Frozen CPU and I came across this: http://www.frozencpu.com/bok-01.html?id=ib4oPLz8

PC Modding for Dummies and Im just sick to my stomach, this is as bad a premod cases i fear. Maybe its just me and I need to take a chill-pill but comon, someone has to feel the same way as me on this? Anyone?

Edit: Woah I must be losing it, I could have sworn I posted this in the modding section. If there is a kind wandering mod, could you please move it there? Thanks

Hell, I'd buy it. Or at least spend an hour in the bookstore reading through it ;). I'm horrid at case modding, I'm always open to new tips and such to make the end result better. Of course,
    # Optimize your computer's BIOS
    # Overclock your system
    # Choose and install a graphics card
    # Keep souped-up parts cool
would all be useless, but still :p. Oh well, I can guarantee it will sell, which means both the publishing company and the author will make money. That's all they care about, really :)

I think I read some of that book whilst at work one day (the store I worked at actually never sold a single copy). It was rather rubbish and most of it from the very early days of modding.

If someone needed a guide to installing a LED fan, they shouldnt be anywhere near a PC.

My thoughts exactly. I though PC for dummies was sad, guess not. :worried:

you know - shock horror - some people do know less than you and they often want somewhere to get that knowledge from other than hard to penetrate internet forums and hours of trawling potentially crap websites.

What's wrong with more people getting involved, stop being so elitist.

Its hard to penetrate only if your attitude is one like that. Most people here dont want PC modding to go mainstream, because its still something niche and specialized, something that not that many people can claim as something they do. There are hundreds of good guides out there on case modding as it is, and all you need to do to find them is a simple google search. The idea of putting it out as a book as a "book for dummies" series is over the top and un-necessary. I dont think I could put together a book as long as 150 pages-with pictures-without telling people how to, literally, do every major modding concept in exhausting detail-let alone over 300.

it's hard to penetrate because there are many elitists who want to keep 'the scene' for themselves and don't want it getting popular.

After all if it was popular it wouldn't be cool would it . . . .

thats not strictly true Tetsugaku-San but i must say if someone doesn't know themselves or can't figure how to install an LED fan they should not be doing anything inside their computer other than looking......

After all if it was popular it wouldn't be cool would it . . . .

i suppose that is kind of true but computer modding must be and is pretty big already otherwise companies would be spending millions in R&D making products targeted at us 'the computer modders' unless they thought there was a big enough market for it

He might have written for the US based PC Gamer mag. I read them ocaisonally, but what really scares me is that their hardware "guru" doesn't know anything about hardware at all.
