    http://www.driverguide.com/ has them.

To log in the username is drivers, the password is all.

Log in, choose scanners, choose Tiny Computers and then search on FU318D. :thumb:

    OK, that's not good.

After a bit of a scout around it turns out that the scanner is a re-badged Primax Colorado Direct 9600.

On the Primax site it states that this scanner is not supported under XP :(

    http://www.primax.nl/sup_col_direct9600.htm#Drivers

However, another search on http://www.driverguide.com/ for Primax Colorado Direct 9600/d9600 shows that the NT drivers may work with 2000/XP. I'd give them a go as there's not much else out there.

    Good luck!

This isnt the first one ive heard about - far too many manufacturers are plain outright refusing to update scanner drivers and software for WinXP.

My Umax Astra 2100U wasnt even that old when XP turned up, but there has never been an 'official' driver - just a buggy as hell one thats buried deep in some japanese site. Of course, XP has simple built in drivers for most scanners, but that means using its very basic (and rather annoying) scanning interface.

The cathode on mine has just blown again - this time, im gonna have to get a new scanner, just to guarantee compatibility. Hopefully HP wont let me down.

These guys need to buck their ideas up and provide proper support for their products.

 I got the impression from the Umax site that there is an XP patch, but it needs VistaScan 3.55 (I've got the bundled 3.2) and for that they want $14.50.

Either way, I'd sooner put the money towards a less bulky and better supported scanner. :miffed:

The XP patch actually didnt do jack - it caused an error whereby XP kept loading the default umax windows driver regardless of the presence of the updated driver. And that in turn caused problems with running the Vistascan program.

I know they wanted money for it, but a little bird on a forum showed me a direct link to it on the Umax Japan site. Didnt really help my situation tho.

Hey, if u wanna give the updated driver and Vistascan 3.55 a try sometime, ill gladly pass it on to you. Maybe you could find a way to get it to work properly. As far as i know, the old Japanese link is dead now.

Im gonna save some money for a half decent HP scanner - if they make 'em as well as they do printers, i'll be sorted :thumb:

TFTI, but when I get round to updating to XP or whatever I'll stick to Plan A and get a slimline scanner, the Umax clashes with the new TFT monitor. ;)
