Ok a fair while ago they were throwing out old machines at my school and being a modder and not one to waste perfectly working machines i took them from the school befor they ended up in the skip, anyways it was beige so i thought i nice black paint job + some extra cooling was in order. and so the modding began First thing i did was to mark out and cut the holes in the top, unfortunatly my fellow modder who was there at the time whos hole saws i was using had a slight accident while cutting the holes and ended up skidding the hole saw accross the top of the case and then into his shoe . i looked at the case and saw the large scrapes and one rather large gauge so befor i started painting i had to set about fixing them, ahh the joys of a cellulose based car body filler and a putty knife. so once that was all sorted i could paint. To get the mirror finish i first had to get rid of the old orange peel paint finish that was on there using wet and dry. I then primed and painted with some gloss black paint and to get rid of any minor inperfections i used t-cut finaly i used black car polish just to give it that ultra shine. for the plastic front and the floppy/cdrw i used a matalic finish paint that i found lying about. after the painting i jst mounted the fans and the grills then fixed some green cathodes to the back of the fans to give a bit of a glow to the case, i also added the switch to the front blanking plate for if i wanted the lights off. the whole mod cost me about £15 mainly on paint. so anyway heres the results - so what do you think???
at first nothin exciting - 350mhz duron, 192mb ram, 4mb agp gfx, 3x4gig hdd's and floppy drive. however i managed to aquire some extra bits by upgrading a comp for someone and taking there old stuff as payment and had a fair amount of stuff knocking about so its current spec is - 1gzh duron, 256mb ram, geforce 2 mx, 3x7gig hdd's, cd-rw. which now leaves me with enouth left over bits to build a third machine.
