Lexx is awesome; Chuck is ace too bot sci fi really but a great geeky show. Stargate Original Series watching it right now. Eureka is pretty good too. +1 Fringe is brilliant! Neuromancer has to be my favourite book ever got to read the rest though

Try reading the books, they make much more sense than the film does.

While we're on books, anything by Isaac Asimov, but particularly the I, Robot stories and the Foundation series.

And another one that falls into the comedy/scifi crossover, the HHGTTG books. I'd also recommend finding the original radio series if you can as they were always DNA's favourite versions.

*cracks knuckles* this is going to be a long post...

Seen it... and read the books based upon it

Sunshine was one of those films that everyone raved about, but after seeing it i couldn't see what the fuss was about...

Yes i have... and i may do...

    Original or remake?

    young what?

Only one from that first chunk I haven't seen... [i will admit, it took several attempts and some booze to make it to the end of metropolis]

    I'll give them a look

I'll try not to fall asleep this time...

You could at least spell it correctly :p... and no... just no...

great... subtitles... they go on the list... at the bottom...

Not sure if I've seen this... it sound familiar... definitely seen Akira and GitS

    I'll look them up...

Actually moon is excellent. But you seem to be adversed to movies that don't pander to your short attention span so maybe you'll get bored of it... which would be a shame. The score by Clint Mansell alone is a good reason to watch it!

edit: also check out lovefilm for suggestions - they subcategorise sci-fi/fantasy into "sci-fi robots," "sci-fi aliens" and "sci-fi general."

Just don't bother with "real steel" the ladyfriend summarised it by saying "how could they make a movie about fighting robots any gayer?"

Because not liking a slow and tedious film [imo] automatically means i have a short attention span...

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo [the original] was a slow-paced film but that caught my attention and kept it without resorting to micheal bayism, Most of the films i don't like just didn't grab my attention, and on the rare moments they do fail to keep it [for whatever reason]... some of them aren't helped by packs of rabid fans who won't hear a bad word said against the film in question and expect you to swoon over it as much as they do.

Nothing in the Manga catalogue appeal? Not just Akira?

Matrix trilogy + some anims available via download

    Inception was pretty good (IMO)
Lord of the rings movies? I actually loved the original LOTR

Did someone mention Blakes 7 already?

    Dark City
Logan's Run (iirc there was a whole series)
Minority Report (worth watching many times)
    Battle Beyond The Stars

If you can cope with not quite scifi, the bourne trilogy, blood diamond, state of play

    How could I forget - V, & X Files.

20,000 leagues under the sea, BlackHole & Saturn 3 haven't been mentioned yet- a few great classics.

That film is so sad at the end...

Agree entirely; I still enjoy the first 3/4 and don't regret watching it, though. It's such an astoundingly brilliant film up to then.

My daily commute to work was getting long and boring, so I discovered some GREAT SCI-FI free audio books that I listen to on my iPhone..
this Author is my favorite Sci-Fi/Horror creator.
    Scott Sigler.
I highly recomend these titles from him on itunes (they are free podcast novels)

    Infected

    Contagious

    The Rookie
    The Starter
The All-Pro (these 3 are part of a series called GFL Galatic Football League)

    The Crypt
    Ancestor
basically all his podcast books are absolutly fantastic Sci-Fi

    Jeremy Robinson
Beneath (incredible Sci-Fi adventure, I highly recomend)

    J. Daniel Sawyer
Predestination and other Games of Chance book 1 (another great Sci-Fi adventure)

    P. C. Haring
    Cybrosis (great Sci-Fi crime thriller)

    Nathan Lowell
Trader Tales 1 Quarter Share (great Sci-Fi story, this is book 1 in a series of about 6 in this long and great story set on a space freighter)

    John Allen
Fried Green Zombies (amazing and LOL funny story about zombies and rednecks, I highly recomend)

these are just a few of the Sci-Fi audiobooks Ive recently listened to. they are all GREAT, and I have more to recomend if you want. plus they are all FREE on iTunes...:thumb:

i thought they only made one ;) [seen all 3... really the second 2 could and should have been condensed into one film]
Inception is on my 'to watch' list, don't think i can bear LotR again so soon

Didn't care for logan's run, it wasn't horrible, just seemed a little dated, haven't seen the other 2
I can't see matt damon without thinking of Team America... I have heard good things about the series though...

V - Original or remake [guessing remake... i tried and just couldn't get into it...]

Only seen the odd episode of the X-Files

    I'll give them a look

    Will give them a look

One of my current favourites... knowing my luck SyFy will dick around with it and bin it like they have a habit of doing...

It may be showing my age, but I mean the original V series.

Inception is on the Asda bargains chart now.
Dark City hard to come by, but it predates the Matrix & has a similar theme.
Battle Beyond The Stars is cheesy but a decent enough laugh. I'm sure it has a similar plot to some cowboy movies.
Just remembered another older classic - The Last Starfighter!

BBTS & TLSF are cheesy as you like, but also entertaining for sure.

No one has mentioned the original Tron yet either I don't think....

While the original Tron is a touch dated imo, I liked it... what are people's thoughts on Legacy?
