I think a few of you have seen the Tribal case mod on the August issue of Computer Power User magazine. The guy posted in another forum but never explained how he managed to do the scissor door trick. Anyone care to point to a link where you can get these hinges, googling only turns up the automotive kind. I know there is some wizard out there that is an expert on hinges.
Awesome I knew someone was a hinge superguru. Would you happen to take a guess at which one of those I should get? Yes, I'm shamelessly copying the idea ha ha. And would it allow me to take the door completely off without going through unscrewing it?
http://www.kismanufacturing.com/friction-hinges The first one I think is the smallest. Depends on how big you are going. One can hold 100kg But umm I was going somewhere with this let me think.O ya for easy removal use the same design sidpanels use. Make it slide on and have 2 thumbscrews on the top. to keep the thumbscrews from coming off drill the wholes a little bigger than the screw and get a think bolt and use this to attach the bolt so id stays but. http://www.loctite.com/int_henkel/loctite_us/index.cfm?&pageid=114&layout=3 If you need nelp just ask.
I just realized that these aren't the same hinges. These will tilt your part up at an angle or down or to the side. Not flip it like his. I PMed him on Bjorn and will get a response hopefully.
thanks, hopefully he wont keep it a secret. i actually will try to email someone at the fastener company see if i can get a response.
Yeah, that guy's rig won Rig of the Month as well. Hot, I've also been thinking about where to get those hinges. hydro, when you get that, could you tell us??
here is a pic I took of the actual lambo doors, just a hinge and a gas spring. I dont see a gas spring on this one, my guess is that it was just a hinge. sorry for the bottom, I cut the upload short since it was taking forever.
