    From the Inquirer:

IF YOU'VE been having trouble keeping the latest developments in the SCO vs. Linux saga straight, here's a quick(ish) summary.
SCO put a lot of effort into portraying their side of the case at the recent SCO forum. It started out with an intro film portraying SCO director Darl McBride as the Unix world's equivalent of James Bond. Licensed to file lawsuits? (The special effects in that Bond film were rendered with a Linux cluster by the way).

SCO then revealed some samples of the code it says was illegally copied into Linux. Apparently provoked by the calls of show us the code or shut up, it picked a couple of (presumably) the most egregrious examples and flashed them up on the projector.

Quicker than you can say Hagebuttentee, Erich Bonnert from German publishers Heise whipped out his camera and photographed the slides, thus providing the Linux community with the first concrete examples of the alledged million-line larceny.

Open Source experts like Bruce Perens, his good friend Eric S. Raymond and Greg Lehey descended on the snippets, eager to tear apart SCO's attack on their beloved operating system.

    More here

So - they (SCO) are bitching about a piece of code that
    • Is almost as old as me (Code in question was written in '73, and GOO.EXE was released in '72 ;))
    • By all acounts wasn't a very well written piece of code in the first place.
    • Has already been removed from the Kernel, due to it's crapness and questions over copyright.

What exactly is the problem then? If SCO keep pushing this, all anyone has to do is get the 2.6 kernel, and give SCO the finger...

Niiiiiiice. /methinks the SCO is just trying to squeeze out the last pennies before it dies.
I'm personally entertained at the guy who whipped out his camera and started snapping pictures. "It's open now!" :p
If that's all the SCO has I pity them. 30 year old code that's already been shot down... Poor SCO...

You're spot on mate. They're doing it because their shares are worth absolutely nothing and noone's investing in them. I assume they think if they win they'll get a lot more investors since it would prove something, but I doubt it.

They've just totally destroyed their image in a final blaze of crapness.
