    Thanks Guys

Thanks dude, I personally haven't had much experience with wood, but my mate is a full time carpenter. I have tried to learn fast so I can help out where I can.

Its been really fun and exciting and I have learned a lot from this project.

Hopefully once this is done, I can do some more.

Ye I'm not going to get burned, as my missis is behind me with a stick and keeps hitting me till I get this done lol.
She wants her spare room back.

But I'm taking it slowly and doing it right.

So I thought I would start off by showing you what I'm moving away from by this desk.

As you can see its a mess, and its cramped.
You can see my one PC in the background (White case)

So now work is starting, getting all tools and bits ready

Measuring for the cutouts for Middle Rad.

All measured, now making first incision.

    Cutting out the hole.

Test fitting of the rad, just pushed in. Its nice and snug.

    Underneath.

Didn't come out too bad I think.

Cutting away the back strip, to fit the other Rad.

    All gone.

Making a slit in the back to slot the Rad support.

    Test fitting.

    Whats hidden under there?

    Yup my trusty switch.

What are these supports being made for?

    UPS down the back.

Back to the back Rad, test fitting.

    Slit is just right.

    Little feet.

    Testing.

    Counter sinking holes.

    Looks good.

    Testing with the full setup.

Getting ready for the Front bay things.

    Holes all cut.

    Testing fittings... Really snug.

    With all 3.

    Temp layout of components.

Does the PSU look ok at the back there?

    Thats all for now.
    Its coming along.

Next I can start making the power cables, and getting fittings with the real components.

I really like this but.... I hate those front IO. The black and mesh on those Disk drive and Fan controller etc look awful. They don't fit in there at all. You should've made like a door or a sliding cover for them or something.

The rest is coming along nicely though.

Umm I tend to agree with you.
At the time I couldn't think of anything else.

    But the door sounds great!

That will have to be desk 3.0 haha.

I have to agree with Darkwisdom there as well... It looks off, especially the carbon on the middle-usb-thingy. Re-designing in this phase may be tricky, but think about it. It sure is a very nice and solid build otherwise!

I agree there, There may be time to redesign that front IO into a drawer or something.

Good to see the progress with your desk, I'm not sure about the position of the PSU, thinking the cables coming out the back of it would be difficult to keep tidy, but bloody hell the build is gorgeous.

The cables will run straight down and under the desk.
Then come in and under the mobo trays.

    Hopefully they will look tidy.

But I will have to have a play to find the best routing.

So did a quick test cable.
This is just so that I can see how long I need and a rough cable layout.

    Any other ideas?

Also I will be cutting a hole down the bottom so that the cables come in from the bottom corner.
I just ran it over as thats kinda how it will run.

Also I will be using cable mounting, so they run nice and neat down the side, and under the mobo tray.

So here you can see it will run around the back.

Does that work? Any other ideas?

    The hole will be here:

As then I can hide any extra in the cables around the back.

What about putting the hole directly under the motherboard, and running it under the desk? -Or a false floor in the main desk chamber?

Ye I thought about under, but then it will affect the top drawer.
    Will have a think.

    Few new things turned up.

This is because of changing my rack into the Lounge, I have to re-do all my networking.

So something small and Cisco'y turned up:

A little 8 port PoE switch, I got this one so it could power my Cisco AP in the spare room still, without needing an injector:

But upon opening the box, I was greeted with a really bad rattle sound.
Like something metal was loose inside the switch.

Looking in, you could see the heatsink has become loose and is smashing around in there.
So I have RMA'd the unit, and will hopefully get a new one early next week. Sigh.

Also some more Watercooling parts turned up :)
Hopefully tonight I can start working more on the power cables as that will get me going nicely.

    WC Parts:

Will keep you posted with any more updates :)
    Hope you enjoy it.
