Hi, I have a problem that just started. When watching any video in windows media player, the screen saver kicks in after the set time runs out. In the options for media player I have it set to disable the screen saver.
Aside from that, what can I do?
I dont want to set the screen saver to off or a crazy amount of time every time I want to watch a movie.
AndI dont really want to have to download a different media player.
    Any ideas?

Sounds like a codec issue. Look if you have a video codec panel of the one of the video type you pay, and see for that option.

Alternatively, well... which Vista do you have 32 or 64-bit?

The file I am watching right now is a mkv file. I'm not sure how to find the codec for it. It was doing this yesterday with .avi files.
I haven't changed anything lately, aside from installing the witcher the other day.

    And this is vista 64.

ok, sound like a codec problem (not a great one or something in the settings)

    My suggestion is to:
    - Uninstall ALL codecs installed on your computer.
    - Restart your computer
    - Download Shar007 codec pack . The setup also cleans all the crap left behind many codec packs which lead to corrupted codecs. It also allows you to change Windows Media Player 11 to the 64-bit version, and thumbnail preview. http://shark007.net/x64components.html
    - Install that codec pack.
    - You may also want the 32-bit version of the codec pack, found here: http://shark007.net/vistacodecpackage.html , which allows you to safely, without conflict use 32-bit version of the codec. I install the 32-bit version so that 32-bit application can play videos (ie: powerPoint presentation with videos)
