i need some advice to a SCIS card, urm im not quite sure what to get as theyone in my system @ the moment is an old ISA one that came with my scanner (yes it is that old, but this is in a time before USB & it is a top notch scanner) & as its isa its stopping me upgrading as i use the scanner, right back to the question, can you reccomend a pci SCSI card for not a lot of money & it will only be used with the scanner the scanner is an Artec viewstation AT6 or would it be better buying a new scanner & keeping this scanner with this system when i upgrade i ask as i dont know a lot about SCSI & the scanner is nearly 6 years old now & is hhhuuugggggeee but it still does a pretty good job of the scanning cheers lads
You mighty aswell get yourself a new USB scanner, you can pick up a good one at Ebuyer for not very much at all. Not only that, but your current Scanner may only work on the orignal SCSI card. I had an old mustek 6000CX, and the SCSI card died, I tried several ISA and PCI card but the scanner just would not work, in the end I had to throw the scanner away. Failing that go to your nearest PC World. When my Umax 3450 died on me I was in desperate need of a new Scanner, went to PC World and picked up a HP Scanjet 2100C for £50
Depends. If you're just using it for the scanner, then maybe you would be better off just getting a new USB one. On the other hand, SCSI is teh l337 and will take max load off your CPU, and allow you the option of maybe putting in some SCSI drives if you feel like it. Look at the SCSI card, does it have any brand/markings on it?
