and the native res of those monitors dont come close to 1080, they are 1050 and less
so hes looking in a very small, very rare range for that size
a 23" monitor is in the 1080p native resolution
but thats not what he wants
hes going to have a hard time finding a monitor under 22" LCD in the mainstream market
(i.e. newegg.com and tigerdirect.com )
someone needs to find an online specialized retailer for graphic design, or photography
and i have no idea where to look for that

Yes I noticed, but I went with the router of "bigger than (name of the sign) 22inch" in the sense of the chat/forum abbreviation.

For the record, the symbol > 22" = GREATER than 22".

If he wanted a monitor SMALLER than 22", it would have been < 22".

Also, he references a 24" BenQ in his OP... Also a clue he wants LARGER than 22".

I'll stick with my post... Just a TAD over budget, though well worth the extra few bucks over a cheaper panel.

I meant greater than 22 in.

Anyway...wafter much borwsing and searching I'm having an extremely difficult time finding an affordable 24 in PVA/IPS panel monitor and an impressive (but available!!) 22 in. See I have to shop from Amazon....so now i Have no choice but to probably buy a TN monitor *sigh* pity.

So...again guys, shoot. I'm considering the Samsung 215tw?! that bit-tech recommends since it seems color accurate, but it's only a 21 in. SHould i bite the bullet?

 

Why can you only order form Amazon? why not Dell? why not HP? why not any company that also have a store?

 

I'm from the Caribbean and almost all of these companies don't accept credit cards online from foreign banks it seems. Amazon accepts it though. They also don't have any stores here. Well Dell does, but the markup on the price is far higher than if I had ordered it myself....their selection is UBER limited as well.

 

I was actually in the market for the same thing until I realised that the 16:9 monitor currently in the market today are all 6-bit TN panels. But there's hope. Samsung have just announced a 23" 1080p (1920x1080) 16:9 LED backlit display with a dynamic contrast ratio of 5M:1 (i.e. 16,000:1 real contrast); it's really nice looking to boot.

Personally, I'm gonna hold out a little longer for a 24" one as the monitor I have now is 24" already (BenQ FP241WZ).

 

I have no faith in LED backlits, if only because bleeding is WORSE than regular LCDs...

HP LP2475w is your cheapest 24" choice.

 

I don't have 20 LCD's here.. my only LED backlit one is the one on my Latitude E6400, which is a 14inch wide LG one (6-bit, 16ms response, 1440x900, TN panel, non-glossy, anti-reflective coating), and it has no backlit bleeding.

If a LAPTOP thin panel LCD can do a good job (and most good TV's), you know that companies that produces desktop LCD's monitors with backlit bleeding are either jerking off or maximize profits and laugh at everyone who idiotic enough to buy them.

It uses Samsung's LTM230HT01 TFT Panel which just happens to be Twisted Nematic (TN). OP is attempting to avoid this.

As for Dell, they don't manufacture LCD Panels and as such purchase them from vendors such as Samsung, BenQ, etc. Therefore it's somewhat difficult to directly fault Dell since they are somewhat limited to what the OEMs make available to them.


As for OP, care to be somewhat more specific than Carribean? After all it is an archipelago. Bahamas? Cuba? Jamaica? Puerto Rico?
