I once long ago bought a maxtor, it arrived with errors, so I RMA'ed it and got a replacement.. that also had errors.
I think the replacement was a refurbished HD actually, quite a company that was.
Stupid of seagate to buy them since now seagate is the most iffy HD seller instead of being second worse :)

Anecdotally, Maxtor used to be acebest. I've got a 4GB drive 'ere which still works perfectly, not a single bad sector.
