    Nero - with SVCD plugin.

Or, use an AVI to MPEG converter from doom9.net/org and convert the file, then burn it as SVCD in nero.

Basically DVD drives will read anything mpeg.

SVCD is mpeg2, VCD is mpeg1.

i had a problem transcoding like that - guy my neighbor works with had 4 misnamed files
(labelled .mpg, when they were actually mpeg-4 .avi's) that he wanted on dvd.

i ended up using nero to burn svcd - worked fine, played in everything i threw em at.

depends on your DVD player. If its fairly recent (last year or two) then there should be no problem. If you burn it specifically as SVCD to a CD (providing itll fit) then its more likely to (a little more).

    i have madmax1.avi madmax2.avi madmax3.avi
so if i convert them into mpeg
and then burn them on a data disc with nero
    then it should work
(yes i have a verry recent dvd player)

    yea, should work.

If they are continuations of each other you can combine them whilst in avi using virtuadub.

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers has a sweet database of DVD players. What you need is your player model number, plug it in, make sure it can read VCD. If you want SVCD (probably), make sure it says SVCD or VCD header trick. They might have a link about the header trick, if not, I'll help you out with that. Google it if you feel unlazy ;)

no you dont burn them as data. You toss them into the Video_TS folder and nero should cut them up properly.
