Alright, I ripped the HIS off my little E6300 because of outrageous temperatures, and lo-and-behold it had a GIANT air bubble in-between the core and the HIS. Unfortunately I managed to warp the dye a bit when removing it, however, I just cranked the CPU block onto it really tight and I managed to slowly make it bend back and then managed to make the motherboard recognize it and not show a double dash ( -- ) in the POST readout and booted it just fine multiple times over several days.n Everything was going hunky-dory till I blew-up the southbridge. Got an RMA, and in the meantime, my roommate bought the same board as me and an E6700, when his board got here, it immediately shat itself and stopped working after 1 successful boot, contacted eVGA and what-not, but no go, it's off to Newegg for an exchange. After that, my new board came in (today) and we immediately took it out and set everything back up and hit the on button.... to be greeted by double dashes. Horrified, we started cranking the CPU down more hoping it was just the dye being lame and not connecting properly, we then tried putting tape on the edges to make sure it was being fully flattened but to no avail. We swapped out my RAM, put different sticks in, tried a single stick, tried swapping the video card, we even put his CPU in there and it still gave double dashes. I ripped off the heatpipe going between the South and North bridges and put my fingers on them to see if they were heating, but they remained cold, as did the CPU.

Now the question is... Could it be that both CPUs died when we put them in his fried motherboard and it fried them, or is the supposedly "fully tested and quality assured" replacement board I received defective? I called eVGA but they were no help at all. I'm rather furious because I paid "overnight" shipping for it since I really needed my computer. Now if both the CPU and the motherboard are fried I'm going to be even more pissed off.

    Comments? Ideas? Suggestions?
(His CPU still has the HIS on it and is brand new btw, mine is a year old about)
