Have someone ever read about the amazing Avivo Xcode from ATI? :jawdrop:

"CHIP Online had the opportunity to test a beta version of ATI’s still secret „Avivo XCode“ encoding tool. It uses the power of the GPU to reduce video encoding time –into virtually any format – drastically. Our results show: The new ATI solution easily does it 5 times faster than even the fastest CPUs available today!!

The guys from the german online-mag CHIP.de have more detailed informations and some benchmarks about the Avivo Xcode techonology.

Avio XCode revealed on CHIP online!

Can anyone tell me, why is should by a geforce? ;-)

This was posted on ExtremeTech a month ago. There are no doubts that this is cool stuff, but features like this aren't completely ready yet - I'd like to know when consumers can get hold of these features, because they can't right now. :blah:

Btw, I wonder whether XCode is the real name for the product. If it is, I wonder how how long it will be before Apple catches on and files a lawsuit?

I'm sorry, what does this say? I honestly can't understand it, I'm not attempting to poke fun at the english.

Do you mean, "Why should someone buy a GeForce?"

As in, why would someone buy an NV over an ATI with a chip that's not yet even actively released and in use for reviewers to really examine? Is that kinda like, "Why buy a product, when we PROMISE you with fingers uncrossed, really, that this new feature will be cool as soon as we release it..."?

Oh, and FYI: Using the term 'amazing' to describe a chip featureset that no consumer could possibly have real access to makes me wonder your position: rabid fanboy, or ATI employee? If it's as cool as it sounds, I'll see it when the reviews come in.
