Saw a white R8 Convertible sitting in a traffic jam. Luckily it was sunny. Like this one:

The R8 looks weird as a convertible IMO. It needs those side blades :-|

Don't they make a great noise though? I was passed by one a while back..

Yet more evidence that matt-coloured BMWs are the new black - East Finchley Underground station carpark, this afternoon:

Why would anyone want a Matte car? To high maintenance.

I agree. For the cost of the matt paint over the course of it's lifetime - endless careful waxes, washes, touchups etc - you could probably upgrade the doubtless gutless 3-series pictured to a 330d - maybe even an M3...

You can actually get the M3 with matte paint now.

And yes, it's high maintenance, but looks damn good. :) Especially in matte black.

Saw a older Corvette on my way from work today. Don't know exact year, but I would guess late 70's.

Great to use as a chalkboard though!

Beautiful little yellow Lotus Elise hidden in a parking lot. Sadly no chance to slow down and check it out as I wasn't driving. It's the first Lotus I've ever seen!

You know BMW make you sign a special agreement with them regarding care of the matte ('Frozen Grey') M3 they do, before they'll let you buy it? Apparently on the verboten list:
    • Can't polish, wax, buff or clay at all, ever
    • Can only wash with non wax based soap
    • Bugs, etc should be removed every 2 days
    • No 3M or other protective products available
    • Light scratches cannot be buffed out
    • Chips, dings, etc difficult to match and may need panel resprays
Owners are saying it's not that bad, but really? It's one thing to have an army green truck - which, no offence, will not suffer in aesthetics with a few scratches - and quite another to be the kind of BMW owner that considers 'detailing' a legitimate pastime...

Not AFAIK, but feel free to correct me. I'll find a car later to make up for all of this offtopic!

Over the last week ive seen so many awesome cars whilst working (seeing as i spend most of the day driving about and talking to some very wealthy people its not really a surprise)

    So last week

RR Phantom (never realised how big they were until i parked next to it in my 207 van!!)
Ferrari 458 (at same house as above)
at least 5 different nissan GTRs whilst driving on the A1
    911 turbo
aston db9 in the most pig ugly green ive ever seen (the sort of green that looks cool on a lambo)
and what looked like a RR phantom convertible, which i followed into a services where the couple went into a little chef for lunch (cant buy taste i suppose)

The joys of having to drive to wherever im working everyday, I only got the van at the end of november and its already at 20,000 and getting its first service next week.

Of course you can't polish a matte car. Polish is in reality a very fine way of sanding paint smooth. Matte paint is matte because it isnt smooth.

You could wax it, bit it would get a bit more glossy. (Semigloss)

Saw an Atom going past work on Friday, the first time I have ever seen one out in the wild. Looked fantastic going round the roundabout and off into the distance!
