Wow i forgot all about the dreamcast years ago. Where are they still selling these games?? must be Japan.

I really didnt think they still made games as it died years ago. Great system though.

Mine still has pride of place by the TV, though it doesn't seem to get on very well with my new plasma. For whatever reason, it's still my favourite console of all time :p.

Anyone else think a "loaded" Dreamcast you sell a bucket load?

Imagine this: Remake the console, but instead of a CD drive (which was inevitably "IDE"), map in a harddisk and emulation instead. Swap out the modem for a 10/100 ethernet (cheap as chips, literally) and load the internal 160GB harddisk with games, then make a download service for rest. Enable some super compression technology like we reivewed on here (cant remember what it was called) to minimise download sizes.

No need for a physical distribution network. They would reap the cost just on the Shenume series. Job done tbh.

My DC still sits under the TV...pretty much just for Soul Calibur (I don't care what anyone else thinks, the original is still the best one!). Ooh, and a spot of Worms Armageddon now and again.

The Dreamcast was (and still is) a fantastic console for homebrew - you could just download games/app/emu's, burn onto disc, and pop them in the system...no mod-chip required.

Interesting idea Bindi, and probably quite doable...the DC does, afaik use WindowsCE as a base for it's OS.

I never realized that games were still being made for the Dreamcast. Are we sure this isn't an article from like 3 years ago that somehow got posted up as a joke?

Cept Sega ****ing rock and Phantom is a vapourware PC. And it already has a load of games and proven hardware, all it would take is some firmware coding and everyone is happy.

Sega would make a MINT. In fact, I should work for sega. /registers bindi-for-sega-ceo.com

I still have my dreamcast with broadband adapter, light guns, arcade sticks and crate loads of games. Of course I have a Japanese version but it does just rock. It runs fine on my LCD TV and sounds great when playing something like BorderDown.

The great thing about the DC was the Shoot-em ups, what other console gave you so many awesome titles. I am still trying to complete my collection of games, I have most of the rare titles including Rez, Cosmic Smash, Mars Matrix, BorderDown LE and Samba De Amigo.

There again i also have a Neo-Geo AES and its just those simple games that are still fun to play.

    Just play it Retro.
