I found out whilst on the way to work this morning my indicators arent working, but my hazards are (didnt test them whilst on the road, dont worry), and my internal fan has died too. My lights, windscreen wipers and rear window heater still work though, so it's not as if everything has gone. I think it's likely to be the fuses, but Im unsure. If anyone's got any suggestions Id like to hear
sounds like a fuse mate really. check them out and see. if it happens again the real fun will be finding out why its happening. i used to have a phantom fuse blower on one of my old cars. the internal light and cig lighter would just pop when it wanted to, i ended up with a big supply of fuses in the glovebox
Could be fuses... If it isn't it may be the relay for the indicators. You'll more than likely have seperate relays for indicator operation and hazards, so that'd explain why they work and the indicators don't. Check everything in the fusebox is sat properly in it's sockets. Then do the same for the relays (they may be with the fuses, or in a seperate electrical box somwhere in the dash or under the bonnet). In the mean time, brush up on your hand signals
L reg Clio 1.2. It's one of those "gets me from a to b" and not much else. I cant afford the insurance on anything else right now though since Ive only been driving for 6 months.
the reason i as is different cars have different faults?? Check fuses check relays does the indicator stalk self cancel when you turn the steering wheel back to centre, its possible the stalks are broke or the switch inside check all the lights for water in them, or if they are steamed up inside. (very unlikly to cause this fault if your hazzards work) check all bulbs, as some bulbs are wired in sreies for the indicators (unlikly to cause this fault if your hazzards work) i'll see if i have a wiring driagram for a Clio
Ive got a hayes manual somewhere at home. Iirc the lights are fine and clean. The stalk works fine and cancels itself which is also why I didnt notice it straight away, because it was only the lack of sound and flashing lights on the dash that alerted me. You know when you dont realise exactly what's wrong when something's missing from an otherwise normal experience.
It was the fuses. Fingers crossed it wont be a regular event in the damp weather though. They were internal fuses, IN the car not in the aux box under the bonnet which has me worried mind cause everything in there and around it is dry as a bone.
shorts shorts shorts blow fuses. i dont assume that it was just one fuse that controlled all of that. if you have a bad ground somewhere under the hood it may cause electricity to seek an alternate path to ground - thru the wiring for all your other stuff. u should have a look around obvious places where wear might occur in addition to where wires are grounded to the chassis. the harnesses, fuse blocks, and anywhere rubbing may occur would be good places to start. you know what u r doing with electrical. if u find something wrong it will be a pretty simple fix. but its time consuming finding the fault manually.
