How did you make the plastic holder? Did you machine that from a block, or just glue sheets together?

    Thanks,
    Gordon

    Hi guys,

here are some more close-up pix of the usb port:

    parts overview:

    lower / upper part:
    [IMG] [IMG]

    profile / cable:
    [IMG] [IMG]

    mounted to the case:
    [IMG] [IMG]

The parts were made of 10mm plexi, with threads cut into the holes so everything can be screwed together nice and tightly.
In the lower part, by the side of each USB-ports is another threaded hole with a set-screw to firmly hold it in place when inserting/pulling the plugs.
The LED is still powered externaly in the pix, in the meantime I re-soldered it to one of the USB power lines.

    Cheers,
    Mac

So where does the metal thingy come from, or am I missing an obvious answer?

It's a part of a 20/20/1.5mm (1m long) aluminum L-profile I bought in a hardware store, cut, drilled, dremeled and filed.

    Thanks,
    and yes.
I have the privilege of having access to this industrial size and grade machine: :D

It's over 30 years old, but still percise to 0.01 mm if required.

Well... that depends on "budget". New ones aren't cheap. After I Googled, I found this.

Mind you, I know very little about this kind of stuff. I searched for Bridgeport only because a friend's dad had one.
