Havn't done a lot of reading on the AMD Sempron, but arnt they basically a rebranded Athlon XP?

I'm asking for a buddy thats looking to get a bit faster processor for his PC.. Not sure if it'll work since the board doesnt support a 333 FSB.

    Ideas / suggestions?

Chances are the chip *may* work in the board, but will run at a reduced speed due to 133 fsb...

I can't see why it wouldnt but I cant say for sure. Just a suggestion, if he can only run 133FSB, maybe get a 2500M. At least he'll get the advantage of 512K cache and, with the unlocked multi, be able to crank up the core speed to get more power.

Yes, go to the mobo maker's site and check processors supported on that board. Pointless us guessing.

a bios upgrade is also a good idea, a newer bios could "maybe" support an 333FSB
