I'm looking for a pair of good canalphones to use at school so I don't feel like a goon with my monster cans on like normal. Trouble is my audiophilic tendencies prevent me from using iPod phones or the ones that came with my ZEN. I need a pair with good balance of bass and treble, but I don't have a lot of cash. I've been looking at Sennheiser CX300s and they seem like a decent buy, but I was wondering if there are anything better for the same or less? I need a pair with decent sound isolation too, and that won't fall out of my ear when I move my jaw (as iPod phones do for me.) Anyone know of any or any reason why I shouldn't get CX300s? Thanks.
i personnely just bought a pair of omx70's and think there awesome would recommend them, only had two problems with them. number 1 - realised how bad my mp3s sound. number 2 - realizing how bad my old cheap headphones where (that i replaced god knows how many times)
I really hate that around your ear design though, and I want some noise isolation which can't really be achieved with anything but canalphones. I had seen those though and they look like a good deal for the money.
Makesure you wear the correct size buds, as you need the correct pressure within your ear to get the "proper" sound to get into your ear. Basically your sealing off your ear from all outside noises. NINJA EDIT: BTW awesome buds, none better for the amount of cash.
Yeah thats what I'm concerned about, but it comes with two sizes so I assume the larger size will be substantial to clog my earpipes. I'm going to have to start cleaning my ears more often... I think I'm definitely going to get these, I've heard nothing but good about them from CNET and other review sites, and I was only really worried because I've never even used canalphones let alone owned any. I think its a good risk, and I can probably return them if they really really suck.
They wont suck, they come with S,M & L buds so choose the one your comfortable with and see using for long periods of time, i use mediums. Im terms of being used correctly, when i first used them i couldn't feel any bass only treble. What i did wrong was jam the buds in without seeing if the sounding was correct. With some practice i found the spot in my ears where the buds would cancel out all noise and also direct the sound into my ear properly. Not only did that work the bass is AS good (sometimes listening to uber loud bass heavy stuffs give me a ear ache) if not better than my PMX100's or Sony MDR-v300 Can's.
Is that the new Zen? If so which size did you get and how do you rate it so far? I'm very tempted to get one for myself
No, its just the Vision W. I always just call it "my zen" because its easier and everyone I talk to already knows what I'm talking about. I recommend the Vision W though. Its a little big but its great and a decent price on the web.
The problem with earbuds is that they usually don't stay in place unless it's a half-decent rubberized in-ear design. Hence, you may want to find some way (such as using a shirt clip) to hold the cable against, say, your shirt or collar when you're walking about.
Thank you sir, I shall keep that in mind. Unfortunately the store was sold out when I got there, so I put in a special order and they won't be in stock until this Thursday he said. Tiger Direct almost never has what I want when I want it, its incredibly annoying.
yeh i've had them for 2 years now, they are good earphones. What else do you expect from a sennheiser?
