£30 canb't you just use an old USB > PS2 then a PS2 > Serial. Both of these came with mice. Both Trust. Not to sure if this'll work. Worth a go.

I doubt that would work, but one can try.

Any device acting as a serial device on a USB port will act in funny ways. For example, you will always have to plug it into the same USB port.

That's assuming that all the adapters (particularly the PS/2 to USB mouse adapter) has the entire pinout for serial. I think a mouse uses 5 or 6 pinouts and if they don't coorespond with what the LCD uses, could be trouble.. but if you have all of them on hand, doesn't hurt to try.. :D

I'm lead to believe it's as simple as plugging the serial plug from the lcd into the convertor, and then the usb plug into your computer... it installs the convertor as a serial port and you're away to play. :)

wouldn't wiring it directly into a usb plug be a lot cheaper than £30?

lol yeah if you want to write software for it sure... you could get the necessay converting ic yourself and do the wiring yourself, I can't help you with that though.

    Cheers,
