HELLO PPLL!! WAT UP THURSDAY!! First fallow this link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211485 and tell me if it’s a good SSD drive? I need to know if it really worth it$$... Specs look alright, but I don’t want the thing to die on me in few weeks if you know what I am saying:) 2nd question is what would be best procedure if I were to get this drive or any drive for that instance; Would be better to clone my current windows7 PRO 64bit, or just install it fresh:confused: Does it even matter guys. What you all think? Man I love BIT-TECH!

TRY GETTING A C300. THEY'RE CURRENTLY THE "BIG DOG" IN THE SSD MARKETPLACE, SO TO SPEAK. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS ONE http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...148357&cm_re=c300_64gb-_-20-148-357-_-Product . IT WILL EVEN HANDLE SATA 3 IF NEEDED.

Secondly, while you CAN ghost your existing installation of windows onto the drive, keep a few things in mind - You're going to have to do a lot of tweaks yourself. Disabling defragmentation, indexing, enabling garbage collection, removing the page file, turning off hibernation and shutting off system restore - all in the interest of extending the drive's lifespan and increasing usable space.

So yeah, I would recommend doing a fresh install. Also, in the future, please post in a slightly more... legible manner. Ambiguous titles which make the post seem like it's shouting at us aren't always too easy to work with.

lol Bit-tech loves you too Siwini. Can't really help with the SSD question, but using those Caps in your thread title makes it seem like you're shouting at us lol. Might want to change that. The mods don't seem to like it.

Happy thursday to you too!!! :D

edit: Dammit Tulatin!! ninja'd this early in the morning!! :jawdrop:

It's 75MB/s sequential write, and the only time you'll need more than than that is writing/reading drive to drive.

The Adata S599 is Sandforce based, which means awesome performance in benchmarks, but lots less in real world circumstances. It's still hella fast of course and there's nothing wrong with SandForce based SSDs, but the C300 is palpably faster, especially over SATA 6Gbps (SATA III)

Yep it does a lot of things automatically when you install an SSD.
When I went through all the suggested settings in this post http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=196558 Win 7 had pretty much done it all by default.

I think (but I could be wrong) that it also formats the SSD for you when you do a new install.

Oh and you might want to research moving page file, opinion seems to be divided on the merits of doing so on an SSD.

When we were originally writing that article, we were using Windows Vista. With Windows 7 you don't really need to do anything. Plug in, it works. Just be sure to run it in AHCI mode for the best performance and TRIM use.
