Hello ppl i was a member on OCS, not a very frequent one thou, i have a problem i want control a servo from an RC car either by using a Pot or push switches, i have read that it takes a 1ms pulse to make the servo go to the start postition and a 2ms pulse will make it go to the end. i have found a kit that will make the servo move with a pot but it costs £15 and well im a student lookin for a job so i habe no money. I want to lift the lid on a printer with the servo, any help would be greatly apreciated. Murdoc.
Welcome to the boards. Those type gizmos are basically microprocessor-driven, so unless you are comfortable writing software for a PIC or similar microcontroller, you're probably stuck paying the 15 bread.
i tried out this with a simple oscillator... it did work... cind of... but not to well... why don't you just disconnect the circuit inside the servo.. (two wires directly to the motor) and make a new external circuit? much simpler.. just make a citcuit that switches polatity for the moror and have a off position... can be done with a two-pole (??) switch..
Quite simple circuits to start with: http://www.score-racing.org/downloads/servo.pdf http://soli.inav.net/~fox/fursuit/electronics.html http://members.tripod.com/demolishun/FrankOldWeb/servocontrol/
Thats exactly what i did, i removed the control circuit stuff, and im takin a trip to maplin later to get a couple of DPST push switchs. I was gonna make a couple of astable's with a 1ms pulse and a 2ms pulse, but anyone who has ever made one knows how much of a pain in the ass they are to get acurate, especially as i dont have access to a CRO atm.
