Set default microphone input

    I have a SB Audigy 2 ZS with a front-panel breakout where I plug in my headset. The problem is that the microphone input on the breakout panel is Microphone 2, so every time I want to do anything I have to go to the sound panel and select it. It always reverts back to Microphone 1 when I open a new game. Is there a way to avoid re-setting the microphone input every time?

    Edit: After testing, this setting resets even when I'm using the microphone. Very annoying.

    Apparently this is a feature of Steam. Adding +voice_forcemicrecord 0 fixed it. Steam support page.
