if you were really aiming your statements at "trend folowers" then you wouldn't have singled out Goths and Punks, you would have said "everyone is following a trend somewhere along the line, you usthave to be doing it for the right reasons". Instead, you singled out the "misfit" group and attacked them. But thats ok. You stick with the "trend" of gothbashing. You're an 'individual', right? Be yourself, go with the crowd.

There are a few very young kids who hangut with goths cos their brother/sister/best friend is one, but they can be forgiven for the naievity of their youth. One thing that annoys me is the comments like "get a hair cut" etc. If you're not a chav you're a goth and tbh, i see myself as more of a punk/ska person Any Newcastle Bit-Techers wanna meet up at the green?

Nobody cares when we chav bash on here. Whats the difference with "goth" bashing? Is it a touch offensive to you? Perhaps chavs find it offensive when we bash them constantly?

Lets not forget the goth botts which usually cost between £100 and £200 a pair.
I wouldn't even pay £60 for a pair of Nike trainers, unless they are running trainers.

Well, CID (Charvers In Disguise) - They all look the same, they hang out in large groups in public, they're raucous and violent toward outsiders and they make people avoid the area...yup - they're chavs.

I stopped going to the Green when it got taken over by kids who turned it from a nice place to hang out on saturday during the summer, drink a couple of beers, maybe have a joint or two to a clique-filled quagmire: they trampled everywhere, ruined the grass, turned the place into mud and made sure there was a virtually constant police presence there.

I'm too young to be doing the whole 'when I were a lad' thing but I find myself doing it more and more often.

Having only been in Newcastle since september (university student is i ) i have noticed the constant police presence and the fact that it dosent look very nice or welcoming. Esp as the bus's stop there.
Isnt it supposed to be a monument?! I have no problem with the goths/chavs/whoever hanging about down there but it would be nice if they didnt make such a bloody mess and respect the point of the area.

Wireframe.. i think you've totally got the wrong idea about my opinions. I'm haven't bashed or singled out anyone.. i am using 'Goths' as an example because thats what the thread is related to , your getting very protective over someones OPINION, live with it. If you want to cool Goths misfits go ahead.. i never said that. I merely voiced my opinion that the majority of youth nowadays don't become (FOR EXAMPLE) goths because of Goth culture and beliefs... but mainly because their freinds have.. or they will be cool if they do.. are they purely.. WANT to have attention directed at them.

I think you have the wrong end of the stick mate.. i'm talking about people who follow into trends and think they *must* dress/act/speak in a certain way to fit in etc. Also people who assume they are 'right' because of their 'group' ..

Wtf are you on about this time? Your managing to pull random arguments out of no where mate . I was saying people who decide on their own accord to dress / act like they do are the true individuals.. (ie. Not because it's a trend.. or to copy their mates)

 

Wireframe.. you need to find out what opinion means. You find it hard to accept other peoples views without trying to change them or make someone feel 'wrong' compared to you.

etc etc.

Most people fit into more than one catagory and very few people fit into the catogrys sterotype perfectly. I know people who at first glance look like chavs but are attuly pretty normal people they just happen to be waring addias tracksuit. I also know goths who are complete ******s.

Basicaly what im getting at is dont hate a group of people hate them indervidualy!

I'm guessing you mean goth BOOTS? Yes, expensive leather boots with metal and buckles cost a lot of money. And yes, some goths, the ones that can afford them, wear them. I fail to see your point. if you have money and you want big bots, buy em. If you have money and you want Nike trainers, buy em.
Also, I do dislike Chav bashing, but seeing as I'm not a chav, and seeing as a lot of chavs go in for gothbashing, I feel sometimes the universe tries to even itself out.

That's rather hilarious. Most 'goths' I know are adults (a couple now with children) who just like the darker side of life. They're friendly and accepting of everyone (minus chavs) and arn't trying to be 'different from pikies' at all. They've just followed a slightly different path in appearance/music and such. When I walk down the street I get a ton of townie idiots shouting '''ERE GOTH WTF U WEARING LIKE!?"...I'm not a goth..I don't wear velvet dresses and pointy little witch boots...nor do I have flowing black hair n a pretty silver necklace resting on me chest bone...damn f00's. I am an emz....who has a lot of black clothes

Offcourse, with reference to my 'friendly, accepting' comment I will point out that there are MANY pretentious goths...however they dont belong in the 'slipknot and murderdolls make me well goffick' category these losers do.
