So my gpu does not support directyx 11.0.

Shadows of mordor does not work unless a directx11.0 compatabile GPU is installed in the machine. Does anyone know if I were to buy a cheap card (temporary - till I build my machine this year) that fully supports 11.0 but does not meet the minimum requirements of the game would still work?

Yh i know its a silly question, just wondering if its possible for nex-gen games to check further my specs (other then DX11) to stop the game from booting up.

    Cheers!

It will probably work, but the framerates you get will be so low, it'll be a terrible experience.

I'm a bit confused after reading the OP. The game will work on a cheap (i.e. rubbish) DX11 GPU, but not in any meaningful way as it'll resemble a slideshow. Not sure what you're asking in your last paragraph, either.

It depends on how crap your temporary card is. I would imagine that yes it will play somewhat, but you will probably have a crap over all experience and it probably won't be worth it.

A more realistic option would be to try and buy a second hand card that could play it reasonably well (at a higher price than you would your temporary under spec card) then when it comes time to build your new PC you could sell it quickly at a bit of a loss and put that towards your PC.

Of course the absolutely sensible option is to just wait until you can build your PC.

Yes it's possible the devs could have put in any checks they wanted to.

But in reality it'll probably run, just badly. You may get lots of crashes, you may get visual glitches.

If the card is too low below minimum you may get real lousy frame rates even at the lowest res possible.

Is it worth spending money on a cheapo card? No. Spend time on google to see how well it plays on cheap card 'X'.

Thanks guys, decided to wait till my build is complete. Suppose no point in playing a game if I can't appreciate it properly / as designed.
