The UK is planning to introduce a nationally linked health database. Everyone's health record will be placed on what will be called the National Care Record Service and all NHS bodies will have access to this system. It's supposed to mean that any doctor anywhere in the UK will be able to access your records if needs be.

Unfortunately like all government IT projects it's going terribly wrong, it's over budget and late. It also appears that it may very not be able to do some of the things they actually wanted to do, if they even manage to get the system off the ground in the first place.

    Ah! Thank you.

I'll wager $10 it gets hacked within a day too.

On the other hand, it IS somthing that will never happen in the US.
