Windows Shazbot : Acend - The only F2P FPS which is any good

Anyone currently playing tribes, enjoying it and or generally excited about its pretty much the only shooter which still play's decently?

What size is the Beta for this?

I know a few people who have been playing it and really enjoying it overall.

There certainly seems to be a large influx of (hopefully) decent F2P games this year: Tribes, Firefall, Mechwarrior Online, MW Tactics, Hawken.

The size of the beta is a few gigabytes, its incredibly fun and is quite easy to get into.

Oh and the Devs dont like pay to win so if your short on cash you can get everything anyway with a few games.

 

Is that fan video meant to be satire?

Of course its satire, the gaming community in general has welcomed this game with open arms as its not a half-assed rehash.

 

I was in the beta but didn't play it that long. Seems pretty good but just not for me. I played Tribes to death in the olden days.

Double XP Weekend, to Tuesday PM!

Did a thread search and this one has the most replies and isn't too old to bump. There's double XP this weekend until Tuesday morning, 10am EST being what, 2 in the afternoon here?

I don't work for Hi-Rez, but the game costs nothing to start with and if you win a match in a team, that first win of the day is still 1200 XP. I'm enjoying it, have spent just under £13 on a couple of gold packs (the cheapest translates to £6.40 each from $9.99) but if you keep the Facebook Gold then you can use special offers every day, based on whatever you've unlocked, to make it go further.

So if it never worked for you before, try it again this weekend, you've nothing to lose, leave the default res at 1024 x 768 Fullscreen if you have an old computer and you'll get a frame-locked but playable 30FPS, anyone with a newer machine, it'll be much better
