    :D

Anybody else watch it? Brilliant reworking of the worlds favourite Consulting Detective. If you missed it, I highly recommend you catch it on iPlayer. 5*

Haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but I recorded it, and judging by the comments above it should be worth it.

Watched it, really enjoyed it. A good variation of "A Study in Scarlet" :)

I thought it was OK. Not fantastic, certainly not as good as the recent film with RDJ.

Sherlock needs to speak a little slower and clearer. I also found the plot a little silly, but with some suspension of disbelief I still managed to enjoy it.

Was really good but didn't enjoy the mystery part. Think it focused more on introducing the characters and Sherlock's behaviour and relationships. A lot was just watching sherlock deduce things rather than let the viewer try to work things out themselves. I guess its hard since we don't physically have the clues he sees so things need to be explained quickly so as not to confuse. I prefer the Morse way of things, gather the clues and suspects lol. Guess they've done the introductions they can focus more on the clues and the mystery itself.

Quite. Just looking at the code I thought it would be
    Rot-13
, then I read the Roman Emperor "clue". So it's obviously
    a Caesar cypher (Rot-11)
    .

Didn't plan on watching it, and only did because it was on BBC HD right after TG, but was pleasantly surprised, it's also made me want to watch the new film too.
Guess the next episode will be on next Sunday?

Really enjoyed it, I love Martin Freeman as an actor.

Sherlock Holmes irritated me though, being so arrogant.

Still enjoyable though, look forward to next week (how long can they keep up 90 minute episodes?).

Next ep is at 8:30 rather than 9pm I think.

Uh, so you didnt read any of the books or listen to the radio productions then?

I was dissapointed that they appear to have taken away his coke habit, and this seems to be a carebear version of SH.

However I enjoyed all of the nods to Study in Scarlett and their take on this being 'A 3 pipe problem.'

If I had to choose 2 other stories for them to produce it would be Sign of the Four and The Engineers Thumb, but thats just me :)

Not necessarily true, though. I take my wedding ring off every night, but I've never had an affair in my life.
But allusions were made to a drugs habit when Lestrade searched the Baker St flat, with SH looking guilty and saying "I'm clean now". Still, very few other dramatisations have made direct references to his drug-taking, so this version is no less sanitised than any other adaptations.
Since we have been introduced to, at least, the idea of Moriarty as an arch-nemesis, they might end the series with The Final Problem... ;)

You can tell it's the Dr Who writers behind it can't you... Benedict Cumberbatch could have easily played Dr Who, very similar acting and mannerisms. Not sure if Martin Freeman would have made a good female assistant though :p

So, yes, I liked it but they should have differentiated a bit more from Dr Who - too similar to me.

    I was quite impressed.

I usually dislike "reworking" characters, or "modernising" stories, but this has been done rather well.

Thanks for the heads up, I'd never have watched it otherwise!
