AFAIK There will be online co-op ( I'm pretty pumped for that).

After playing most of the Total war series and loving them hopefully this one wont disappoint :)

Going away from gun lines and cannons is a good thing for total war- is better without them.

Ugh I cannot wait, had it pre-ordered for ages. I've always loved the Total War series, but I must admit Empire/Napoleon really hit the spot for me as I am a total Napoleonic-era history buff. The combination of firearms and melee was perfect, whereas I find the earlier games too melee heavy for my liking.

Plus the satisfaction of the thin red line beating back the blue columns is just...awesome. I just wish the scaling was better (120 men is a company at full strength, so an entire "army" is a handful of regiments).

I actually built my Sandy Bridge system just for Shogun 2, I'll be getting a GTX 560 Ti to finish it all off :)

I just pre ordered, this game literally makes me wet my pants, looks stunning and it's my favourite period in history, absolutely love games based around warring japan.

Shogun Total War was just flat out epic despite it being the most basic of the series, so I can't wait. And they are finally giving the multiplayer the attention it needs.

You are so right. I want men hacking each other to death for glory, not line dancing with guns.

I look forward to a more simplified/smaller map. I did enjoy the vastness of Empire but at the same time it kind of takes away from the game.

Agree. The fun thing about the original game was that every province mattered and you had to fight to the death for each one.

    Greetings!
I remember the original Shogun, it always ended with an AI faction on one side and the players faction on another, battlig in the middle of Japan.

What I'm glad to see that in Shogun 2, when the AI feels you are becoming too powerful, they will all declare war on you and begin a mass assault. This prevents the steamrolling effect of previous Total War games. Becoming the dominant faction can have big downsides :)

I prefer a smaller campaign map; usually ends up with more action in the area, and I'm also more likely to actually complete a campaign.

That behaviour was already present in the last TW games, at least on the Very Hard setting. All the AI factions will just "gangbang" you.

I didn't realise that. I was reading the PC Gamer review of Shogun 2 (it got 92%) :)

Can't wait for this. Not played a TW game since Rome which I really loved. Should be good...

See, I didn't like the gangbanging...mainly because I hate the AI cheating in any game.

I'm mainly a player of Medieval 2 and from my experience the campaign had terrible AI, set it to hard and your alliances mean nothing, you'll be backstabbed to hell and back which while some would say it makes it harder, it makes it completely stupid and unrealistic, which is why I play with the stunning stainless steel mod. Now my alliances mean something and the difficulty is harder :D.

I'm hoping this game will have good campaign AI that won't backstab you and will actually embrace the alliance you create otherwise I'm gonna be praying for mods at release :wallbash:

EDIT: I also hope ATI fix the stupid stutter problem on the campaign map when playing on this engine (empire/napoleon), it's been present since 10.6 and the only working driver I find is 10.5 which I don't want to have to be using come shogun 2 :(

I think you will be happy with the changes in Shogun 2. In the PC Gamer review, they specifically stated that theres a new honour system in the game. Betraying an ally is one of the most dishonourable things you can do in the game, and will make it very hard to make allies with others in the future. Not only that, your own population won't like it. Of course, the same applies to the AI nations.
