Make sure to dispose of the crt properly... IE: throw it out a 2nd story window into a dumpster :)
Its the only way to be safe...
Although seriously, disposing of a crt is dangerous, so check with the proper people on how to dispose it.

Can't you just use tinted plexi or something if the monitor's too small? Is an inch really gunna kill you if you get 19 instead of twenty?

Kill... doubtfull, but why short change yourself?
If you are going to do a mod, go 100%, not 90%.

Anyone can get a tv and put a random monitor in, but (hopefully) archie is going to make this unique, and AWESOME... again, hopefully :)

You will need to take the monitor to a toxic waste facility. As checmicals mainly lead used to make monitors as well as used in monitors are highly toxic.

You could blow it up but you might be releasing some toxic stuff. W/e just clean it up.

Your local dump should be able to deal with the old CRT, they often deal with old TV's, washing machines etc etc. :)

    UPDATE:

I have decided against the Epia 13000 as it just doesn't seem to be powerful enough to run XP as a media centre and I'm a penguin00b so linux is out. :(

I'm gonna sell the Epia (anyone want it? may post it up for sale here) and look for something a bit beefier.
Problem is, something beefier will likely need a PSU etc instead of a pico PSU and a power brick.
Oh well, fleabay here I come... :D

    <Edit>
And as for the old tube, its still sitting in my place collecting yet more dust.
I really do like the thought of smashing it by throwing it out the window.
Might take it to work over the weekend as at least that's an industrial estate instead of a residential area...
And yeah, damn right I'd video it!! :D

I can't wait to see this mod in full swing. What sort of spec system are you aiming for? Is it going to be quiet?

Not sure what spec machine I will have.
Depends what I find for sale on here, the other forums I frequent and Fleabay.
Currently bidding on a 1700+ Athlon XP + mobo and a full AthlonXP 3200 system for much cheapness.

I really can't see any other (cheap) option for a PC more powerful than the 13000 Epia that's also small and efficient enough to use with a Pico PSU.

    Any suggestions?
Maybe a shuttle gutted and recycled?
    Anyone selling a shuttle? :D

k, didn't get any of the stuff I initially bid on on fleabay.
I did get a P4 2.4 Northwood though and a shuttle mobo for it.

I'm selling the Epia system here. :)

Why are you going with Matx? Your TV case should be plenty big enough for whatever you want to throw into it... be it a 5.1 surround sound, full Atx computer... w/c even...
Hey, you could throw in all that, and even cut of the bump in the rear :)

I was going m-atx because I bought the Epia13000 for something else then never used it.
It has barely even been switched on which is a shame, especially when I paid over £500 for it! :(
Still, someone may buy it off me for a good price.

I do have some spare WC stuff here which I may use.
Tempting I must admit, especially if I made it passive and chopped off the big bit on the back of the telly...

Just waiting for some parts to arrive so I can look at placement etc. :)
