i'm looking to get a new pc right now with a budget of 650-850 right now i'm running q6600 gtx295 and i'm looking to see a good gaming pc potential of 3d as i have just ordered a benq xl245(something) to me its all about quick. so ssd is a must but what component do i get and is gpu gonna be enough for now. what i'm stuck on is which cpu to get the 1366 or sandy bridge and if so which one? it won't be a complete build as i have a 750 watt psu sound card and stuff but the usual MB, RAM, cpu and maybe GPU if its realli needed. fearron
Sandy Bridge without a shadow of a doubt. They are just plain better with minimal price difference. Either i5 2500k or i7 2600k would be great. GPU will be more than fine for now.
i5 2500k, crucial c300 ssd, a gtx295 is still pretty good these days so dont change that unless your getting a 580
Sandy Bridge would be my choice if building a rig now. Mobo: Asus P8P67 LE - £111 CPU: Intel i5 2500K - £174 Ram: 8Gb Corsair Vengance (2 x 4Gb) 1600Mhz - £95 SSD: 64Gb Crucial C300 - £96 HDD: 1Tb Samsung F3 - £41 GPU: nVidia GTX 570 - £285 This gets you to £802 - also need to factor in Win7 (if needed) so around another £75.
Not worth getting a 570 really only if you have money to burn and you really want dx11 if so then you may as well get a 580, your 295 will be ok for a good 12 months yet
If ur goin sandy bridge - the OEM 2600k is about £60 more than the 2500k (at least from scan) They also do daily offers which feature a lot of the sandy bridge atm With regards to the ssd - new 1s r on the way in next few weeks - some are already out (although they cost a fair bit - but worth considering if u plan to get 1) You can keep the 295 as it is a good card then upgrade for a brand new about 6 months - 1y down the line
I would keep the 295 for now, and go for 2500K and Gigabyte UD4. Alot of people seem to be having issues with the Asus P67 boards, so for the moment I'd steer clear. For cooling, look no further than the Gelid Tranquillo - Sandy Bridge runs quite cool, so theres not much point in splashing out on more expensive gear IMO.
are the motherboards a big factor with OC theses days? seems like the reviews for a good OC are quite even over the main few makers of boards. ahh well least i no the gtx295 is still good for now. ^^ so a 2600k will be the choice for me i think. (need to find a nice water block for that if my old one doesn't fit) what would a good size ssd be? and would installing steam games onto a ssd improve performance?
All the P67 motherboards I've seen seem to o/c well enough. Its largely a matter of looking at price and other features, and them making up your mind. As for CPU, you'll probably be ok with just the 2500K... The 2600K is not £80 better than the 2500K
My understanding is the 2500k can hit up to 5ghz, you aren't going to need more than that and given how easy it is to OC the 2600k does not seem worth the extra cash
well my brothers going to be having my q6600 and i'm looking to build a new one and then give him this. guess i'll go with a 2500k since the difference is not that big with a 2600k thanks guys
