Windows Should I be worried or am I paranoid?

I have some unusual internet cache items popping up, I haven't visited these sites and I don't use IE anymore, I just use firefox but the same few items keep appearing in the temporary internet files folder. They are files named:

One of them connects to a website that I have never visited before, its a guys home page, a programmer.

Windows XPSP2 is up to date and the firewall is up, I use an up to date copy of Avast, an up to date copy of Search and Destroy with Teatimer running so that I am alerted to any attempt to change the registry and have to approve all changes. I also have a hardware firewall. What could these files be? Is there some kind of virus program operating behind the scenes? A backdoor? I have scanned the drive with Avast and found nothing so I'm in the dark. What should I do and how can I find out if these files are evidence of something going on or just random crap?
