Ok Update. They called my mobile and left a voicemail. They apologized and said keep the items as a good will gesture. So who's coming over for tea tonight?
Yep, I've had this from Tesco - Extra stuff delivered, Call them up to let them know, and they said Sorry, and said they weren't going to request it be returned, as it was all consumables. I've even called Amazon before, when I got an additional 2 unused packing slips with an order. Just wanted to make sure that the person wasn't not going to receive their order as the packing slips had been sent to me...
This thread seems to entirely too long for a 'someone screwed up, I got free eats' thread Grats on your little windfall.
I'm happy to be told I'm wrong when I'm wrong, but telling me I'm wrong and then justifying it by showing that I was right gives me a fuzzy head. When he first received the goods = not theft. When he realised they were goods they hadn't ordered, paid for or otherwise been intended to receive, but then ate them anyway without the belief he had the legal right to or that ASDA would be ok with it = dishonest appropriation. It was clearly dishonest otherwise he wouldn't have come on here asking us whether it was ok - only if you believe it to be ok is it an honest action. If, upon realising they were unpaid for, he'd contacted ASDA to discuss (a reasonable step to take under the circumstances) and ASDA said "No beef, enjoy" then he is in a position to honestly appropriate them as he has the 'belief' mentioned above. As it is he appropriated first and asked questions after. Theft. So he is now eternal scum. Scum for thieving. Scum for shopping at ASDA. Scum for not sharing the stolen goods with me.
Food for thought. If he believed it was okay does it make him an honest person? Wouldn't everyone else see his actions as dishonest? Which is he?
I think the main issue is that the free stuff was perishable. If it had been a television for example then it would have been wrong to keep it.
Consider it a gift. The number of times I've been overcharged by a supermarket or the number of people I see sucked in by a reduced to clear sticker yet the price is higher than fresh stuff. All's fair in my eyes
Yup. It also seems to be a recurring theme that they send food that's right on the brink of the date with home delivery. Every week my lady fumes and rages before phoning them and getting refunds on stuff that is going out of date on the day they deliver it. We only have a small freezer FGS. What's most annoying is they will send like three pots of sandwich filler and a loaf of bread all going out of date on that day. Gits.
Well I'm surprised this thread is still going lol. All the food and guilty feelings have well and truly gone. And quite frankly I enjoyed every mouthful
