    livedrive
i started off doing a stealth mod for it (cover made from a drive blank that would flip up), but i use it so much, that it would just be in the way.....

should i paint it? hate to loose the labeling....

I saw someone not too long ago make a new face for it out of an aluminium face plate.... thats an alternative to painting it...

I think something should be done to it, its just a question of how you want to implement it ;)

Since you are wanting to go silver instead of black, maybe there is something to let the labeling come thru-window film, window decal with brushed aluminum printed on it, some type of dye....?
There's gotta be something but not sure exactly what. SHould be fun searching and trying tho.

i think it would be fine as long as its hidden.

thats kinda the whole point behind stealthing it.

they do sell a black livedrive, but it still wont match.

the drive above it looks pretty nice, the paint matches very well. i suppose if you can find the lettering you could always put it back on. but do you really need the labels anyway? if you know what youre doing you can just forgo any lettering and do it from memory.

paint it silver... (see siggy for my drive :) ) just keep the manual handy in case you want to look at the labels again... I promise when you start using it you will know which ones are the normal inputs/outputs without labels!

make a face plate if you dont wanna lose logos, etc... and just leave it up - or off -- if its not annoying you leave it open most of the time.... we'll be impressed with pics with the lid down.... ;)

ever since macro black, all I can think of is clear lexan painted from behind... if you were going to make a custom face for it. I like the painted one above though... wow, I didn't help at all :D

Cool Hand, does that glass door get in the way alot? I really dig that case and considered it for a while but I have little danes running around my house and they like to do "mods" of their own and that door would last about 5 seconds in my house... just curious

i think your looking for Dr_kazza to answer that one, but from what i understand, the door is cool....i thought it got in the way of the livedrive buttons, but that doesent appear to be the case....i have a lian-li pc 68, and im thinking of making a door for it out of plexiglass..

CoolHand - If you are painting, Plastikote is the way to go. My drives are painted with aluminum coloured fast dry enamel, code B30. It's *almost* an exact match, and far better (IMHO) than just painting it silver.

See piccies in the VFD thread for results.

I was worried that the door would get in the way but to be honest it doesn't at all... and isn't any bother.

I think I would have preferred the non frosted version but there you go.

Tell you what is funny... Stegga1000000 from Ocuk boards seems to develop tourettes whenever someone mentions the 210.

Worth buying just to bait him ;)

I am gutted that I bought the CM210 though, like everyone else I want a macroblack :/ mind you I'm very happy with 2nd best :)
