Ahh, I see. I asked because the grip + EN4 is actually lighter then the grip + 2 EN3's (or AA's) and lasts longer and boosts the frame rate.

Yeah, I was seriously tempted to get the EN4(a) but I can get the framerates if I need them using the AA's if I absolutely need them and I can use the EN3's in all my other cameras. Plus the insane prices on the chargers for the EN4's was the cherry on top.

Quite honestly, not being able to shoot CH max speed on the D700 with the grip if it is only fitted with specific batteries was the only real disappointment I had with the body. But I later realized how little I need the max frame rates and using the Lithium AA's is a decent compromise all things considered. As a matter of fact, I have the grip loaded with the EN3's because I use it more for the extra shutter more than the extra fps.

Speaking of flash use, why not get the battery pack? sd8-a or whatever it is?

all that does is hold more AA batteries. If I was working hardcore wedding and lived/died by my flashes then I would probably pick one up. But my flash situations don't mandate more capacity/recycle times. But I do have to have at least one with me just in case and even the minimum supplimental parts add up. Like I said, Lithium is the best solution I have come up with so far.

And it's another cable sticking out of your camera and another thing to carry. TBH, I even think that the 5 battery door is silly, I'm glad the got rid of it on the SB-900

Agreed, used it when i first got my SB-800 and replaced it with the original door. I never noticed any real-world increase in performance.

There is about 20-30 extra pops IRL. But it also blocks the CLS sensor. Not worth it IMO.

Nikons and Canons sure are popular (no surprise).

    Anyone ever rented a len(s)?

I can't afford to buy one, but no where seems to do Sony lens, :( shame
Anyone know of anywhere? (In the UK)

Why not just get rid of the Tamron 17-50, and 10-17 fisheye and replace with just a 10-20/10-24 etc regular lens?

I know. I also know that some people buy a fisheye for the neat effect AND to use as a wide (de-fish in post). I just assumed that he had the fisheye and it probably wasn't getting much use. If I had to chose between a fisheye and a UWA, I'd chose the latter.

I think it depends on the type of pictures you're trying to take as a photographer. I'd much prefer the UWA like you, but that's because I get more joy from shooting a nice vista. :)

Got the Fisheye for jump shots & the 17-50 there is no better walk around lens for the money.

Have had a gear upgrade since then though & have removed the fisheye from my line up, currently saving up for the 16-35L but its far stretch at present not quite required for my shift in photography attention.

    Now using a 5DmkII 24-702.8L, 70-2002.8L, 180mm macro lens, 85 & 50 f1.2L, concentrating on Portraiture with some Sports on the side.
