Howdy guys, I'd like to present to you a very special LCD. I haven't seen anyone used them like this before. It's a Planar 320.240.36HB Electroluminescent small graphics display, to which connected a SED1335 controller board. Screens made in LCDinfo. More pix here.. Checkout the pix in the dark , it's an amazing sight this little gem. Whaddya think of it
Looks absolutly awesome. Wouldn´t mind one the same custom fitted to the front of my Lian Li V1100B.. May I ask how much a display such as the one you have now costs in total?
very few times i will say this. sweet. a complement, as all electronics regulars will tell you from me, thats a rare thing.
ooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........... Really unfair too.... that's exactly the color I want but the backlight kinda filters in on mine and the viewing angle inverts it If you don't mind me asking... how much?
NICE, (not the town)..... Isent that actually an OLED-screen? just wondering... and, id you by the controller-boart separately, or what? (asking becouse i need a controller-board..
this is a touch screen LCD. Not a vfd. here are the specs and what not: http://www.tern.com/docs/smartlcd.pdf epic the controller is about 40 dollars: http://www.angelfire.com/electronic/micropakindustries/page6.html i think the price for this lcd is around 500 dollars. epic
is it the: "MPI SED1335 Controller Board without 17-pin and 20-pin connectors Stand alone version" (Part # MPISED1335A $42 USD) just connect to the screen, paralell port, an pray? an it shoud work... "plug and pray" you see, I'v got two 640X240 (or something like that) so I need controllers.. Pics: with a cd-r on top in the dark with backlite on really wanting it to work, then get the other one to work (it's identical twin)
There is an even bigger one on ebay as i type, only $25 USD! But you would need a controller board. However the shiny black with EL does look damn cool.
Sweet piccys mate, display looks tasty too , puts my little powertip to shame lol. Got any cool animations yet? LcdInfo , cracking program , all hail Henry...
I open every post first and then I see them all. I didn't know that the one I was looking at was about a LCD, and I thought "what a nice paint job and nice letters". Then of course the "doh! it's a LCD" came. Very nice LCD, really nice! Congrats!
- The total package cost me well under 100$. It could have been cheaper if we made our own SED boards (pending project ) These displays bought new appear to be well over 400 euro's - I have 3 of these as well as some other Planar's, but none will be sold - Only this particular HB (High Brightness) model is worth it, other Planar's aren't that bright. I know; i've also connected a normal Planar 320x240 and it's not that exciting. When i have time i'll wire up my Planar 480x240, but i don't think it'll be as nice as the HB - It's not an OLED nor VFD but an EL display, checkout Planar's site for tech info. - Realise this display does NOT have a backlight! But the brightness and viewing angle surely match or exceeds that of a VFD @Alekoy; that is indeed the controller board i used, i can safely recommend these boards to anyone. MPI can be trusted. I have some 640x200 lcd's too which i need to test with that controller. It's quite handy to have a separate SED board to test controllerless LCD's. - tips when hunting on e-bay; stay away from EL displays that have a 'grey' glass. I have a 640x480 EL form Planar and really it looks like sh*t, can't even take a decent picture of it. Last word of warning, e-bay can be a gamble; i have had 2 defective Planar's already Thanks to Henri from LCDinfo and Zotty from Liquidmp3 for teaming up on this one .
OK, and wiring information is included in the package? lpt input and SED output? if so, I'm a happy man..
