Heh, that's a ... conicidence Fod, the hit box is large by about 1 pixel and that's because the corners of it extend over the outline of the shyguy sprite. I've tried running the game in slow motion and the collision still appears pretty much spot on. If you keep hitting the bottom then don't go quite so close to the edges! ArtificialHero, Yeah the shyguy sprite is a bit more pixilated than the rest of the graphics. There's not much I can do about this. I have to some extent smoothed it by using the Scale2x scaling algorithm and then subsampling it back down to its current size. If you saw the original shyguy sprite I used you'd see it was much more jaggy.
lol umm when I have this program open my computer jumps to 2.6ghz what is the reason for this? my computer jumps from 1.9ghz to 2.5ghz real quick but when I have your program open it stays at 2.5ghz
Some great scores you guys are getting. It is a hard game but it's possible to get pretty good if you practice plenty r4tch3t, the caves are completely random so you and woof82 won't have reached the same place before dying. If you can get past those really steep and narrow sections though you should be able to get quite a lot further. Again, just keep practicing! n0d4x, I'd guess that your CPU speed might be jumping as a result of some power saving feature. When it's not being used it probably drops the clock speed. Try seeing what happens with other CPU intensive apps.
I can tell they are random, but it is the same kind of area that we crashed. Can get through them, just happened to crash on one. Hmmm, off to try and beat your score...
Yes this is a double post, but its needs to be. What happened to the high scores? They disappeared? Oh well I have the top score for now...
Oh crap. Can't think why that's happened. I guess that's the problem with using flat files rather than a database to store data that is shared between lots of people. I guess there must have been a conflict when two people submitted their score at the same time. Anyway, everyone has their scores stored locally. You can all just resubmit your scores to appear on the highscore table. Hopefully it won't happen again soon. I will have to wait until this weekend to have time to fix the problem though. And r4tch3t, looks like you're #1 until I get home and have a chance to resubmit my score
10th place, I give up! Great game there DeX, very impressed It also runs fine in os x if you were wondering.
Suggestion - how about something that measures your accuracy (ie percentage of coins collected) so we could compete for the longest distance with 100% accuracy. That would be cool, and interesting to see you accuracy as you go along normally aswell.
Got another one - frame rate limiter? I'm pushing out 900fps on the game, it's a real cpu wh0re. when I'm playing it my CPU goes from 16 degrees to 23 degrees and it's at maximum usage...
Pressing esc from the high score table then pressing up/clicking to start keeps closing the window here. Not sure if it's meant to, but it's a bit annoying. Otherwise great game though, nice and simple.
Longest with 100% wouldn't be that far, as I seem to get many places where I have to choose between an easy bronze or a silver/gold close to the boundary. Can't see how you could get both.
Ok so I said I'd fix the highscore problems this weekend. Looks like I'm going to have less time than I expected. Who knew that work would be keeping me busy all weekend? Also very big congrats to Cubein (also known as pii or "</table>" ) for well and truly beating me with an amazing score of 6715.
