    Hey guys,

I am soon to start on my mod (will post in project logs soon)
And I was thinking of putting a nice thing in my side panel. And I ran into this:

It's like a round panel with LED's in it and it has kinda like a tunnel effect in it.
The panel is ø17 cm, so not that big.

Would it be cool to put that in the side of my case or would it be overdone?

Looks very cool and I like the idea, but IIRC that panel is is very thick, so I'm not sure you could fit in inside the case.

Looks like an optical effect, if there were lights going down into a tunnel, it wouldn't be a dark tunnel :)

Good observation, how is it done, a mirror and 50% mirror? It should wobble around as you walk by.

Yeah there is a mirror placed in such a way so you'll get the effect as shown on the image..

The size is 17 cm and it says you can hang it on a wall or put it on a stand. So I presume it won't be that thick. I'll go and check the store and see if it's worth the money :)

Well 17 cm is still fairly thick to be mounted onto the side of a case. BTW, it's called an infinity mirror IIRC.

The 17 cm is the diameter of the thing rofl.. not the thickness..

Gonna check how thick it is somewhere this week :)

i think that would be wasted on the side of your case, i'd mount it on the front, it's a very original and stylish idea, wouldn't want it hidden.

as for the depth, i've seen ones about the size of an A3 sheet of paper which was less than 2cm thick, so i doubt that would be any thicker, go for it

I could have sworn the ones I've seen are pretty thick. :blah:

I thought about making one of those, once. The only problem was I couldn't find any 50% mirrors at a decent price.

I am going to order one from http://www.conrad.nl

It's under sound & light - decoratieve verlichting - decoratielicht and then somewhere on page 5 I think.

It costs 22,95€ so not that bad. And some shipping costs but it won't be that much.. I just ordered one today.. :)

If it's 17cm across, it should just fit across the front of a mid-tower. My ATop[1], anyway, is 20cm across the front. It might look very cool put across the bottom section of the front!

Or on the side, in place of the inevitable window... :D

[1] Yeah, I own a pre-mod. Don't kill me! OTOH, if it hadn't come with a window and a few measely lights, I'd likely have another BeigeBox and wouldn't have discovered the insanity that is modding... it's already got a LOT more lights than it came with!

    Wow... that looks good.
*thinks where he could put one*
My pre-mod ( ) XaserIII has a awful logo design on the front, which is powered, so all the wiring is already there - hmm, thanks for the idea :D

aevitas: does that shop ship to the UK? If so, I might have to fight with a online translator :hehe:

I sended them an email asking them if they'd ship to the uk. Should have an answer within a few days. I ordered mine today and I think I'll have it before this weekend. I'll keep you guys informed with some pics when I get it

And I am really soon to start on my mod, so keep checking project logs :)

That thing actually doesn't look too bad.

Although, the first thing I would do is change the colors of the LEDs.

I personally must have the colors the same. It makes it look cleaner and more uniform.

Since my PC is a BLACK/SILVER w/ BLUE lights combo, I would go with white lights on the inside, and all blue lights around the ring on the outside.

    an example:

    But that's just me.

    :D
