    Folks,

A couple of months ago I walked into my favorite computer store and saw a computer case that looked like one of the cars from The Fast and the Furious. I dismissed the case mods as "infantile" and "unnecessary".

Well, after having aPSU meltdown, I bought an Antec Smart Blue and I love the cool blue LED light. Which brings me to this forum and a couple of questions:

    1. Where can I get side panels that are kind of generic? I have an AOpen case and don't feel like buying a new case at the moment.

    2. Where can I get front face replacements for the same case? I'm planning to install a 80mm fan on the front and my current face has no openings (but the metal enclosure does).

If none of this things can be done.. well then I'll buy a case, but I prefer not to.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

    J :naughty:

    First welcome to the forums.

    1. Im not sure I understand your question. Generic? If you just want replacement panels for the existing case your best bet is to contact the manufacturer.

    2. You most likely are not going to find a front panel that has an opening custom made for your case. Mod that baby! Cut the hole, sand and smooth, paint it, mount a filter or mesh, all yourself!

    Thanks for the reply.

I was wondering if I could get the side panels already modified, as I have seen them for some cases. I do not believe they mount the same way on my case. I think I'll just get myself a window kit and a metal cutter.

As for the front face... here come the powertools!:D :thumb:

A lot of computer stores over here are selling premodded windows on generic panels, so maybe try that... or maybe a Computer Market/Swap Meet.

if you feel fairly confident with a jigsaw or dremel type tool then you can easily put your own pannel in. There are loads of shop and website that sell pannels to put in to existing cases - sorry don't know any american sites tho...

The sound of pencil tracing lines on metal.

The feel of the cool sheet metal as it vibrates... the drill making a little hole.

That is all it takes to get you hooked.

My first window is installed, with blowhole and a very nice cold cathode light to make some statement.

I feel good! :hip: and it looks good. Not as good as others, but it is good enough for me.

    Thanks all for the replies.
