I've owned one for almost two years and I love it.

IQ is spot on, you couldn't ask for better colour and sharpness for the price.

Build quality is superb. Bindi dropped mine from chest height and it just cracked the filter ring, no internal damage.

Focus is a tad slow but you can solve that by limiting the search to the range you are shooting. The full time manual focus ring is very smooth.

It's quite heavy but that's to be expected of a 150mm lens with macro capability.

I can't compare to the Canon 100mm Macro but from what I've seen you can easily achieve the same results. Albeit slightly easier when taking insect shots as you can be further from the subject. Conversely you need to be quite still or have a lot of light to get a sharp photo when shooting 1:1.

I'm also interested in hearing comments about this lens. It just may be the next thing on my shopping list.

The Sigma 150 is one of my favorite lenses I've ever used let a lone owned. BQ and IQ are top notch and on par with Canon's 'L' grade. The focus speed, while not ultra quick, is quite fast for a macro lens which enables it to become a good standard tele. Focal length is also a huge plus as is the additional tripod collar and hood. All in all I'd recommend this macro over most other 1:1's, depending on what is being shot of course. If your into shooting insects and other skittish subjects this is one of the best macro's out there to do it with...aside from the Sigma and Canon 180mm's which come with a higher price tag.

Is the Sigma 150 what you use for most of your insect shots, Matt?

Yep, The only other lens I use for insects is the 100-400--mostly for butterflies.
