For £250 you can get a nice, quiet water cooling system...

Or you could just go aircooling and buy a nice Zalman, what CPU are you running?

Watercooling is the way to go if you want silent and great temps.

If you water cool, you can remove most of your case fans, and only use at most 2x 120mm fans at low RPM to cool your radiator. You would only need a quiet exaust fan if you go the water route. Add a fan controller to the mix then we are talking almost virtually silent.

I would say water cooling a HTPC is overkill.

But having said that water cooling is great. Pretty much any setup will give you what you are looking for. Have a look at:
    WizD and
    Coolercases

Probably the best stores for low flow or high flow setups :thumb:

AHHH.............this is right up my street at present and cheers for the heads up Darv :thumb:

I'm busy building a WC system into a glass topped wooden coffee table for this exact propose, hopefully ending up with a fully functional table similar to the old style Space Invader arcade table that fits aesthetically into our living room and with the WC system and 15" LCD on show through the glass top (of course)

A water set-up is idea for complete quiet in the living room and the main noise concern is the sound of the projector fan as even though the one i'm currently using is rated at 36dba i can still hear it during a silent part of a movie............not a major concern but given that i cant even hear the PC which is only a couple of feet away compared to the projector which is ceiling mounted!
[anyone got a guide on watercooling a projector] :D

I'd say go for it and 250 quid will get the job done no problem!

Budget for a good silent PSU also :thumb:

BTW i got a Yamaha DSP E1000 surround sound processor and Quale or Jamo centre speakers for sale that i'll be adding to the "for sale" section when i get a min if anyone's interested!

36 in Panasonic TV and 86" Panasonic PTL 735 NTE LCD.......great for footy even though we (Newcastle) just got knocked out :waah:

    Hmmm...

I remember seing a Case Made of heatsinks, basicaly 4 giant ones. It was completely pssive and used heatpipes from the processor to the walls... Get a highend processor and UNDER clock it. Some early p4's can run without a fan...

I presume you mean the Zalman TNN 500A. Yeah it's mightily cool but it does cost £765+VAT, it's massive, and it weighs about a ton. But oh so pretty. I'd be interested to see what sort of temps you can get out of it.
