What piece of legislation states this? Whilst the legality is questionable (it's up to Plod to decide if it is dangerous to allow you to filter) there is no aspect of the law that states filtering is a right - it depends on teh circumstances.

 

Anyway I thought 50cc was a moped and anything bigger was a scooter? I use a scooter for work, it saves me loads of time when I take the car to work it can take me 1 1/2 -2 hours on a bad day to get home the scooter takes less than 30 mins even in heavy traffic. A tyre for my scooter costs £35 on a bike you can normally add £100 to that price. I would prefer more power but I can't afford to take my test and the training for it.

 

Filtering is 100% legal.

So yes it is a right of the rider to do so.

 

Although I don't own a bike or a scooter I can imagine both are great fun in the summer.

 

It is not a right, it is not covered by any specific law, plod can prosecute you when you filter if he thinks you are acting in a dangerous manner, eg you cross a white line whilst filtering, or are filtering when it is uneccessary to do so.

the guys ped to the left of you has an 'italjet dragster or what ever teh fk they are called. theres no 'tuning parts for an et4 50 (50cc) don't suppose you could help me de restricting mine? carbs are pretty much the same? and im not sure where the bit of plastic is in the exaust?


edit: This guys a nice bloke, don't be d*ks for a crap excuse, since im sure modding pc's is classed as alot lame'r. and people with cars spend hundreads on getting it to make noises, without performance again, which is about what he proberly spent on most parts tuning it.

 

Fair enough to you mate, I had a scooter once, never did like riding it but you gotta do what you gotta do..

The only thing that's questionable for me...is going 100mph on tyres like that? Just one pebble and you'd be off..right?


Oh and filtering is legal, but there are very tight restrictions as to where it is legal..

 

Your saying a scooter is safer than a car?

If your wanting to stop people thinking scooters are crap and annoying etc. your going to have to stop the idiot boy racer chavs ruding them around like they are crotch rockets, leaning in to corners and such like they are actually going fast, mugs they are, mugs.

Anyway, you are just as likely to get killed on that scooter as you are a motorbike, as you will probably not be the cause of the accident, the very fact that scooters and bikes are so small is the problem, only takes one car to not see you and your hospitalised or worse, dead.

i've had 2 incidents in about 2-3 months, both could have been fatal i guess.
in one of them i slid across the floor, the other got hit sideways. i found out today it's my fault i got hit sideways by the car. *shrug* old, death, retarded, speeding, dumb, death and in a rush stinky old man.
